Simple, Solid, Works Great, a little costly
Love this can opener. Aside from the electric opener, this is our favorite for a manually operated can cutter.Pros:- Cuts perfectly- Doesn't slip / Grips can well- Easy to attach- Easy to remove (just slight turn in reverse fully releases)- Glides fine on can- Large wings provide reasonable leverage for ease of turning. They are not the easiest we have ever tried but they feel to rank right up near the top of not being difficult to turn, at all. Better than reasonable.- Consume very little space / super compact without the long handles in the way - perfect for storage, esp. when space is a concern.- Great for camping or backpacking!Cons:- A little costly for the amount of metal but then again, NOT cheap Chinese knock-offs, either.Final thoughts:- Love the product- Wish cost was lower- Highly Recommended- Would buy again if I needed another - may buy another anyway, just for travel!

Small Wonder
I have had other "safety can openers" but none come close to the ease of operation and effectiveness of this little gem from Nogent. You do need to pay attention about placement of the opener on the can at first - once you see how to place the blade and guides then its a no-brainer; I can do it with my eyes closed - just by feel. The blade is super sharp and the handle is easy to rotate - even for a septuagenarian. Very easy to clean; when needed. Actually requires less cleaning than my regular can opener. Does require occasional oiling - easy to do; just a drop. I use tea seed oil that I have for my knives but any vegetable oil will do. Easy to store and travel with as well - one of the best kitchen gadgets I have ever acquired.

Great can opener (just a couple uses so far)
I haven't opened many cans with this Nogent yet, but it worked wonderfully the times I did. It was kind of tricky to get it to latch onto the can my first attempt, but once I figured it out it works great. The inside of the can gets pressed smooth all around, so no worries about getting cut. It was easy to turn and has large wings to push/grip in order to spin. This relives pressure on any specific point or on individual fingers, which I assume would be helpful for anyone with arthritis/joint pain. Now just to see how long it holds up. My more traditional "original" can opener with the disc cost almost as much as this and lasted only about 10 cans before skipping in cuts. I'll change my review if this Nogent can opener fails any time soon.Edit: Several cans in and I like it more and more. Works great on squared cans. Easy to get on and off now that I'm familiar with it. I may buy a couple as presents.

7 years and still going strong!
This is the best can opener I have ever owned. It is strong, durable, and compact. It takes a little practice to learn to use, but once you learn, it is easy. It travels well and is reliable. 5 star product!

Really good, but one issue!
FOLKS! I have cut open probably 7 or 8 cans with this myself, and it does a great job, but I have to warn you, watch for metal curly Qs coming off after the cut. I have not ever had a can opener do this, and I don't know why this one does. It is the nicest and easiest one to use out of any I have had, once it is started right I mean to tell you there isnt an issue except the cut will have a few metal curly slivers that we make sure doesn't get into the food in the can when taking the lid off.Seems like every can, varying brands, etc that this opener still does this on..... weird!

Best hand operated can opener i've ever had.
I decided to try a lot of different can openers and to figure out which was best . This one was my over all favorite for every day use. I use it at home all the time. It opens cans well and seldom get s off track . It is much more compact in the drawer than the types that have long grip handles and it works better than any of those types that i tried. It is easier to use and a little faster than the types of hand operated openers that don't have a twist geared drive. it's bigger than all of those, and uses up more steel to make. It's convenience and speed combined with it's relatively less wasteful design than every other opener with a similar twist geared mechanism attracted me to it as the best compromise.

You could break into an Abrams tank with this.
I am surprised at how beefy and how versatile this thing is. Typically with survival or low profile can openers, there's always some compromise that has to made - such as universality, durability, user friendliness - This can opener gives you a little taste of a world without compromise.I've tried all kinds of can openers, from the P38 / P51, to a whole galaxy of lame knockoffs of the aforementioned openers, to dollar store classic can openers that all of our moms had in their junk drawers, to the fancy high end can openers, to can openers that came in Hungarian mess utensil sets, to countertop electric can openers, to can openers on multitools - I kind of have a thing for can openers. So when I come across one that impresses me, it has had to work very hard to accomplish that. This is the only one where I didn't feel like I had to sacrifice something to use it.This is a fabulous piece of equipment so long as you don't mind waiting for the import times (it took mine about 8 days to arrive from France)
