No The outer plastic clasp is only suppose to slide back and forth to either cover or expose the release Mine fell off once, but it’s easy to clip it back on. It’s plastic and flexible, so you can flick it off it at times. It should not come off regularly or fall off easily.

I believe it should all say 2.25, I don’t think it comes in 2.50, so may be a typo. I looked on the herm sprenger site and did not see anything with 2.50. Hope this helps
