is this good for guitar players? my finger tips always hurt from pressing on the strings

It's awesome for taping fingers/joints for Jiu Jitsu. But not certain it would work for the very tips of your fingers. I doubt the adhesive is strong enough for it not just to slip off.

how wide is it? what is its width/dimensions?

About 1/4" wide. Perfect size for fingers

My son is a finger bitter. Would this be a good product to wrap his finger tips with? Keeping in mind breathability and washing hands through the day?

I would say it would help. The tape is oddly textured so I doubt it’ll feel good on the mouth and it’s stuck through 1-3 hand washings for me, though the fingers will definitely have to be re-wrapped throughout the day

Could I use this to help stabilize a sprained thumb?

You can try, but I think you might be better off getting a proper wrap designed for your purpose at the pharmacy. But can you wrap your thumb with this? Yes. It'll stretch out around your thumb though causing a lack of support in short time.
