What's the difference between the amazon exclusive (p71) and standard (p45) models?

I have not tried the P45 but I don't see anyone writing reviews that the P45 is out of tune. I believe that the P71 is a P45 reject. They say that the notes are recordings from their grand piano. But, I asked for a replacement and that replacement was also out of tune in the upper and lower octaves. I could hear it and it is confirmed by my regular piano tuning app. Go for the P45. I also thought the the electronic piano sounded weird depending on how hard you press the keys. This was true on both that I ordered.

The P45 weighs 11.5 pounds more than the P71. Since the reviews suggest that the keys are weighted the same and the sounds are the same, perhaps the difference is in the internal framing and chassis. So the P71 is easier to carry but is probably more fragile.

can you connect it to external speakers?

When connected a headphone output to external speaker, it is best to an attenuation cable and connect an amplier with a line level input first, adjust to a clear sound. Yamaha could have supplied a line out output easily but noooooo.
