With a Tip of the hat to Pie Boy I might add if you leave it upright it might be a little over the top. With that being said it’s all about the input voltage. because regardless, Whether the input is the output will be the same. Unless you put 240 into an amp designed for 120. In that case you’re output will be zero and you’re back on Amazon buying a new amp.

I'm helping a friend pick out a bass & amp for her son. Would this amp be loud enough for a small entry-level garage band?

I remember way back when I was in my first band. I had an ampeg B-15 and it was woefully underpowered. All I got out of it was a ton of distortion. It can be very frustrating for a new player to have to deal with poor sound. I’ve known guys who have given up playing because of the frustration of dealing with noise instead of music. I would use a 25w amp for practicing by myself but for a garage band I would go with a minimum of 100w.
