4 years too long
I've had this cooker for exactly 4 years on 12th December 2022 I chose this to replace my Cannon Chichester which gave fantastic service for 20 years but eventually even the best wear out. This one has been a pain since day 2 when we realised how many badly designed parts there are. The pan supports just don't - they are dangerous and slide far too easily, they have insufficient pieces to support smaller pans, especially if they are lightweight ones. The grill cooks unevenly - right side OK - left side just the O! The ignition on this stopped working after one year. The cooker is so shabbily made that the top oven has a fan which comes on and blows hot air all around the kitchen - we assume this is because the roof of the bottom oven is so thin that if you put both ovens on at once, the top one will overheat, the fan takes out some of the heat. Just what you want on a summers day! And after about 3 years the numbers on the dials had all but disappeared. This is not a cheap cooker, but even if I could buy one for £100 I would refuse - it just isn't worth having. Cannon used to be wonderful - stick Hotpoint with it and it isn't. I also don't like that you have to stand with your finger on the control while it clicks for ages to persuade it to light, and the fact that if there is no spark to ignite the gas - the gas doesn't come through. I understand the bit about safety BUT it also means that if there is a failure in the electricity supply the cooker doesn't work. Not a lot of use in these days of unsure supply. Bring back pilot lights. By the way I am looking for another cooker without these design faults and as soon as I find a suitable replacement this one is out of the door.

Poor quality.
My cannon cooker has been nothing but trouble since the day I bought it, like most products they are made cheap with a fancy name, well disappointed!!

Like other people have said
I inherited my cooker from a close friend, after she suddenly passed away. She had only had it a couple of months. I have always had electric cookers, and now I have this, I would never go back.Like other people have said, if you can not careful, the pans can slip. However, you soon get used to this and adjust accordingly. I have not had the issues other people have had, and can slow simmer.Lighting the ovens or burners can be a pain, but this is only due to the auto cut off, so I will accept taking around 5 seconds to light the burners, knowing that if the flame goes out, the gas cuts off.The large oven can be programmed to turn off automatically. Perfect, if you forget about the food in the oven,I absolutely love this cooker and will never go back to electric cookers.

this cooker must have been designed by a man ! the grill takes for ages , the pan supports slide all over the place, the light in the oven you have to get on the floor to see in, a terrible oven, very dangerous to use

If you are looking for a cooker that works, ...
If you are looking for a cooker that works, save your money and don't buy this one! The grill is colder than a candle... and that is on full. Also the minute minder.... if you move 4 ft from the cooker you cannot hear it. Hotpoint tell me this is a health and safety thing to stop you burning anything, it means you will stay in front of the cooker!!!!! Then why is it a bleep at all??? Two weeks old and already the repair engineer is booked as the grill keeps going off. My old Cannon just died after 12 years loyal service, and only then as the oven failed and the parts were not available. Feel totally conned! All this money for a cooker and you can't even cook a piece of toast on it.

Help
This cooker has been the bane of my life from day one. The pan supports move around all over the place, and small saucepans tip if there is not enough in them. The ignition is the worst design I have ever known and when having a dinner party, there is no time to keep pumping these damned ignition switches. A busy cook needs speed. I cook a lot and wish I still had my old cooker, but for it giving out with old age. Another point which I would like to raise is that the roof of the over is not self cleaning, yet there is no removable roof plate as in all other ovens I have had .Also I have written to your company recently regarding the fan being in the small oven, which blows it out, yet there is no fan in the large oven where it is sited in most other cookers. Your company Hotpoint/Indesit, have not had the courtesy to reply. Had I known this cooker was made by Indesit before I made the purchase, I would not had done so. I would not buy Hotpoint/Indesit again, ever, in any appliance. I cannot wait for the time to come when it is due to be changed, but it is only four years old. Hell!!!
