Excellent easy setup

The media could not be loaded. We purchased this machine for our podcast “The Whisperboy Podcast” and we are relatively satisfied with it. You can expect low hum, high treble, and medium bass.This machine is capable of making your voice sound rich and radio quality too if you know what you’re doing. Currently this machine is the best in its class. Bit pricey but it will be worth it in the end. The best thing about this machine is the fact that it balances audio levels up and makes the voice sound better.Update: the machine’s recording disappears and we have not been able to resolve the issue. The Australian customer service has not been helpful and referred us to the UK customer service and they asked us to send the machine to them :(

What a lovely piece of kit this is. & what a nice change that it makes it so easy to set up. I am so fed with massive instruction manuals that i can't read. It almost kind of talks you through it . ok so maybe some of the finer details need further exploring , but i was up & running in 10 minutes. Fabulous product

If you into podcasting, streaming, making music or just wanna make prank calls then Then this is for you.. However I would say when I bought this I didn't realise how big it would be so if space is an issue for you then the Duo should work fine

I’m not sure what to put here. It was a Rodecaster 2, but I read another review on here that made me keep a lookout when it arrived.The box outer sleeve had a rip in it, the security seal had already been removed, some of the cables had odd looking zip ties & inside the box there was a checklist signed by 2 separate people to verify that the machine was working.The checklist I thought was either a) Something I’d never seen in a brand new package before and a way of showing people at Rode wanted to show their spot checks. Or b) it was some sort of checklist to verify a returned model works and can go back out to be sold.To check this I went on the Rode website and bought one via the links on their site (for £10 less) - via Wex, but I prefer to use Amazon.This box arrived with the sleeve normal, with the tamper seal on it & no checklist inside. So unfortunately although yep it was probably a fully working, perhaps refurbed model, for the amount these things cost that didn’t sit right with me and shouldnt be sold as such. If it wasn’t for the other review on here saying similar I probably would have overlooked this and I think if it had said pre-owned, that’s fine.I’m sure it’s a great machine still with all the checks etc and it could be only happening to a few of them (it does say from the Rode store) but I would have preferred some honesty on the listing after paying full price.

This market is getting crowded with devices that do a bit of everything but Rode carve a really quality niche. For something that does so much it makes the user interface very intuitive and teh sound and capabilities are stunning. Still learning things to do with it

I’ve been a big fan of Rode and its products, but I write this review based on my long experience with audio production.Rodecaster Pro 2 is better than Rodecaster Pro in every way, but there is one big issue: TRRS input for connecting to mobile phones is no longer there.You have to use the extra USB port to connect it to your phone, which causes many issues. Here I explore the USB solutions first before diving into the problems.Solution 1: If you are using an iPhone, you need to connect you phone with Rode MFI-certified USB C to Lightning cable (SC15 or SC19), which only transfers audio but doesn’t support charging your phone simultaneously. If you’re planning to use to your phone for long hours (like Clubhouse), it’s a big headache. If your phone has wireless charging capability (i.e iPhone 10/11/12/13), that needs to be attached to the back of your phone separately.Solution 2: connect your iPhone to Rodecaster with Apple USB to Lightning adaptor (the one with USB A + Lightning on one end and Lightning on the other end), which allows you to charge your phone and use any USB A to USB C cable to transfer the audio to Rodecaster simultaneously.Here is the BIG Problem in both cases: in both cases Rodecaster and USB adapter act as an external sound card and iPhone doesn’t route audio through them during cellular phone calls. (obviously an Apple restriction not Rode’s)Solution: you’ve got to use Whatsapp or other applications to send audio through the rodecaster. But here is another BIGGER Problem: if you disconnect the lightning cable and connect it back, the sound will come out of the iPhone speakers and won’t go through rodecaster anymore (unless you hang up and call back again). This issue happens intermittently and not always on all applications. But for applications like Clubhouse, you’ve got to close the app and open it again to send the audio through Rodecaster.The TRRS input on Rodecaster Pro (previous version) was amazing as it always sends the audio through rodecaster when used with Apple lightning to TRRS adapter (the old 3.5mm headphone adaptor you used to connect your headset to lightning port after Apple removed the 3.5 headset jack).That 3.5 to lightning adaptor always works even during the normal cellular phone calls and even if you disconnect and connect the iPhone several times. With that the audio always goes through Rodecaster. Plus that allowed me to use Apple iPhone Dock/Stand, which charges the iPhone and has the TRRS (headset) port too. Belkin also has an adaptor wihtout needing the stand.Some say you should use Bluetooth but the audio quality of the bluetooth is nothing comparable to direct USB and TRRS quality.Removing TRRS is a big oversight and I hope Rode finds a way to add that back, perhaps as an add-on USB module!

The first Rodecaster was a game changer, but if you did interviews on zoom and want to edit in audition you'd get sounddriver conflicts, so you'd need to record to the SD card then dub back to the PC. This version has two connections, so you can assign separate drivers to Zoom and Audition. Effectively that means you can mix from your PC, through the Rodecaster and back into Audition on your PC. Cuts a step out of the process.
