I am a power lifter. I have a 44" waist and large legs. Are they roomie?

I would suggest yes. I have a 34 inch waist and comparable thighs at 6 feet tall. I have to cinch the chaps to their tightest setting and still have plenty of room with probably another 6 to 8 inches of straps left to chinch tighter. Even at 6 feet tall the bottoms of the chaps rest at the heels of my boots in back and halfway to the toes in front. The waist straps can be adjusted to ride even lower but then the chaps would be dragging on the ground in back. I used them extensively this summer in the Virginia woods with my chainsaws to cut fallen trees and encountered and killed one copperhead. The snake chaps did not encumber my agility or movement climbing over and among fallen trees. PS: I apologized to the snake.

Can you wear them with muck boots

YES, I wear them with a pair of knee high Lacrosse BIG rubber/neoprene molded boots in size 14. They are large enough in diameter with adjustable strap in rear and easily buckle around my boots with extra room on nylon adjustment straps.
