This is not a cart at all. It is not easy to transport by hand. Best to keep it on your bike and use a small shopping cart.

You shouldn't need anything else. In the box is an adapter that attaches to your rear axle. The tow bar has the receiver that directly attaches to the included adapter. The pin to secure the trailer to the bike is always tethered to the tow bar. And the tow bar has an embedded hinge to support turns. It is really easy to set up with everything in the box.

Are the front and back panels and bars removable to allow carrying of larger cargo like a beach tent ?

We’ve loaded ours up to resemble toe Beverly Hillbillies ride. Beach chairs, legit beach umbrella, cooler, toys, stuff. I tie it all down and tow it about a mile to the beach. This little cart handles the loads and the roads!
