Truth review. Tough and timeless.
Yes, there are cheaper mic stands. No, it’s not light or easy to carry. So why buy it? Because it lasts and is a classic. The weight, feel and easy adjustability just make this the perfect engineered mic stand that you want to grow old with and still use 30 years from now. It doesn’t degrade or need to be improved. Buy one. You won’t regret owning it.

Good old standard stand.
Standard of the industry with cast iron base with standard corded mic attachment.

Great as Standard Mic Stands. Even Better as Light Stands!
As affordable basic (low profile) mic stands, these Pyle stands work well, for a very fair price. The base is compact and heavy enough for proper stability, and the height adjustment works well. What I really love using these stands for, however, is as more compact light-stands for wand lights (such as these https://amzn.to/3KWLA0p ) around the house. By using the Pyle mic stands instead of the light tripod stands that come with the lights, I can place the lights in tighter spaces, with less to trip over, and it is definitely an upgrade in stability. Depending on which lights you use, do a quick check to make sure the light's mounting area matches the size of the Pyle, but so far, I've had success with a number of light fitting perfectly, and for those that don't, there are always plenty of adapter options.

Mic Holder Could be Better
The media could not be loaded. Overall, this is a nice enough stand.... the base is heavy and sturdy and the length is adjustable. I would have given it 5 Stars if the Mic clip didn't seem cheap and fragile. The Mic clip is a thin plastic and feels like it could break easily. I travel with my stand and I need all of it to be durable. I also was not thrilled with the fact that I need to carry a screw driver to tighten and adjust the mic position. The negatives were not a deal breaker- I kept it- but there is some room for improvement .

Good solid heavy base
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Price and reviews Solid base is heavier than others. Using these with large diameter condenser mics for group sound reinforcement. Didn’t want to use tripod mics as they’re more susceptible to being knocked over. Buying another.

Unbeatable at the price; don't overtighten anything
I specifically picked this one for the compact heavy base and price point. I've owned lots of mic stands over the years, mostly tripod style. This is a great stand for 30 bucks or so. Perfect for PA use, home recording, etc. The only things to know, depending on what you want:1) Yeah, the telescoping part is thinner than more expensive options (see pic with bic lighter for comparison). Probably not sturdy enough for the road, but at the price you could just buy spares if you're not Van Halen. I have an SM58 in my pic, but it also had no problem with a spider-mounted condenser mic.2) I haven't damaged mine, and there is a warning sticker--but I can see how you could strip the threads on the clutch. It takes more turns that I thought to tighten it, so I can see how you could just keep going and ruin the fun for everyone.Would buy again!EDIT: it was not my SM-58, but one of my SM-57’s that made it into the final cut of this review, back when we were two years more innocent. But here’s my update. Still using this mic stand at least multiple times a month. 6 stars; use it wisely and heck, might last at least 10 years.

Not as advertised
Pyle generally makes good equipment which I'd recommend. However this mic stand is a case of false advertising, as they're now shipping a cheaper product than the one pictured. As another review stated, the base is now thin and light, not the thicker one pictured in the listing. Also the mic clip is not a squeeze clamp as pictured but is just a standard slide-in clamp which comes with any cheap microphone. Additionally, the stand was very difficult to screw into the machined metal base and required some oil and a lot of effort to screw in completely.I'm sure this product will be fine for my home recording purposes so I'll keep it, but the unfortunate business decision to quietly replace parts of it with inferior substitutes is an insult to consumers that needs to be called out.

Easy setup! Height adjustment is easy and smooth! The weight is great, not too heavy but it’s sturdy so that’s great!
