5 Piece Knife Set From Famous Japanese Chef - Komei Nakamura

i have always wanted a set of japanese knives but did not want to spend £500 plus for a set so i found these. the blades i can say they are NOT full tang altho there is a run off of an inch or so making changing the handles possible. the blades came razor sharp out of the box and are made of a good hard stainless steel and are not too heavy or thick while keeping the the knives rigid with a little flex. the kanji writing down the side if the blade is nice and not to deep into the blade that it traps food. the handles are the only letdown they are made of what i think is melamine plastic its hard and light but is clearly in 2 peices with a visible seam and the collar around the base of the blade is not very strong either. but given that fact that changing the handles with the right tools is not a huge job this is not a big deal. overall i will say the blades are great but the handles are the only letdown but can be changed. so if you are looking for a nice set of japanese blades but don't have the cash for damascus steel ones these will do the job long enough for you to save for a set.

Very good value but the wood handles are of cheap wood will have to replace in the near future

Really sharp out of the box. Passed the paper cutting test. Cut well and nice assortment of knives but handles are very poor can see blades totally outlasting handles. Certainly would not put them in dishwasher ever. It looks in the picture as if the handles are light bamboo wood but they are in fact fairly flimsy plastic that has a seam along length which is a shame as blades are impressive for the money.Sorry to say I am actually having to return these knives as after only three uses the collar has came loose on the petty knife handle. I took great care to handwash and dry them and at no point soaked them in water so was a real shame.

These knives are remarkable value for their price. I have bought several knives seeking a sharp blade that is easy to sharpen and care for some have cost me many times more than this set. I have often ended up disappointed. this 5 Knife set is by far the best. A quick sharpen before use and they are ready for any kitchen work from veg to meet and fish.

Quality of blades is excellent and a good selection of sizes. Kept informed at all times of dispatch etc from the supplier. So pleased with them we ordered another set for a friend who is equally as pleased. Handles could be a bit better quality but for the price I'm not complaining
