Why is this item $30 for 3 pieces of plastic/fabric?

F Kazmi, Thank you for your question. The beachBUB has 2 major components, the reinforced tarp with 3 brass grommets and the anchor collar. The anchor collar, also known as a shaft collar has 3 threaded tap holes to accept the 3 - 3/8" high strength hook bolts with locking nuts. It has been engineered to hold over 300 lbs of dead weight. The tarp has 4 welded parts and all stitching is heavy duty industrial grade. Remember, the beachBUB is made to hold 120lbs of sand and hold an umbrella in a 42 MPH wind. By all means if you purchase the beachBUB ULTRA and it does not meet or perform to your expectations contact us at beachBUB USA and we will refund your purchase.

Why can't you use a twist anchor umbrella?

There is a ring at the top of the base in the picture that the anchor fills with sand clips onto. Most screw type umbrellas won't fit through the ring. I did retrofit one by removing the screw base and reusing the umbrella. My umbrella pole is 1.5 inches thick. would the collar fit?

Marge,Thank you for your question. The inside diameter of the collar is 1 9/16". All poles that are an 1 ½" or less will work. Best, beachBUB customer service
