The plastic piece that holds the screen broke first thing while setting it up and the magnification is only slightly better than what you can get on a decent iPhone app. But for that price I had to try. It was easy to set up and use, the screen is great but the light sometimes distracts from the subject and I have to find alternate lighting. I bought this for coin hunting and I should’ve got higher magnification. Overall decent purchase for the price.

This digital microscope is first advertised as having 1000x magnification. Later it is advertised as having 50 to 500x times magnification. But I can figure out no way to achieve this high magnification. The so-called directions are no help whatsoever.0.18 mm Is the approximate width of a strand of human hair. 0.18 mm times 500 is 3.5 inches. The screen certainly does not show a human hair as 3.5 inches wide! In fact the screen itself displays 4.0x, and I'm guessing that is about right as to the real magnification .So why is this advertised as being 50 to 1000x magnificarion?
