This stuff works well if applying to a new shoes does not stop dirt from getting on it , but it will help when cleaning them off , use for sons baseball cleats that red dirt stains quickly , all I do is rinse off and dry I do reapply once every couple months when u see the water beading off not as much ,Just spray evenly and light coat twice and good Togo easy to useOutside is key for spraying will waterproof anything beware

I put off using those because I thought it would be a pain, but I was very surprised. It was very easy went on very nice. Did not change the color of my leather couches. I do suggest putting a couple towels on the ground around the couch while you spray. I did open a window to let it air out a little bit because I do have a small cat but within an hour, all the smell dissipated. highly recommend. I have a good size couch, loveseat, and recliner. It took two whole bottles.
