No it's not a typo. 4 contacts on RJ11 plug are wired to the 4 contacts in the center of RJ45 plug. That's how it works.

They do the job!

Could I have made these myself? Yes. Did I want to? Nope, and I'm glad I found these on Amazon. The price isn't too bad, and they work great for letting us use a couple old rotary phones through the CAT6 cabling running throughout our house. Crimping looks good, and I like that everything is black. Not much else to say, really - they work like you'd expect, and I'm happy with them!
