Then hype is real. I got the 371. So smooooooooth. And it cast great, 0 back lashes first time out. The only thing I hate, and I really hate is it has a dumb screw to access the brakes on the side. It's frustrating. But it would not stop me from buying again

This is an awesome fishing reel. It casts as well as any large 400 series fishing reel including the legendary Shimano tranx. It has a synchronized level wind which means it synchronizes on the way out and on the way in and this makes it for great casting. I use it with suffix 65 lb or 80 lb braid and I can easily cast it over a hundred yards with a 3 Oz weight and it does not bird nest ever I have the brakes set on three if you're going to fish into a heavy wind you might need to turn the brakes up a little bit but that is very easy to do. Pop off the left side cover and pull the brakes either out for more control or in for Less control. One of the reasons that cast so well is the level wind acts as a break of sorts and the string is always going straight through the level wind islet and never coming off at an angle. It has 30 lb of drag and it is dead silent when reeling it in and casting. I have had five of these three of which burned up in a fire. Even a fisherman inexperienced with baitcasters can cast this real without worry about blowing it up.

Smooth as silk, very strong reel, spooled with 65lb braid in preparation for musky season. Excellent purchase. Highly recommended

Using this on an okuma albacore rod rated for 20-50 line with 25 lbs power pro to 30lbs fluoro leader mostly for tooth abrasion. It's a solid reel in the hand. The drag and handle are super smooth as you'd expect from okuma. I ran the lexa 400/500 on a demo setup and really loved the levelwind for those 30ish lbs class fish. This is my surface iron and smaller jig setup targeting yellowtail (jacks) and bass in that 'up to 30 lbs' category. I gave 4 stars out of 5 due to limited casting brake/clutch so if you're looking for that, consider a tranx or lexa. This reel has bigger, all-metal gears and best in class drag power. Otherwise if you're like me and love untangling birds nests, get this one with the heavier gears for cranking the big irons and big fish. The value of this reel is insane when it's on sale.
