The Best Book on Growing Microgreens
(Photos are my early results…thanks On The Grow!)I’m new to microgreens and would like to grow them for myself and my family. I’ve done a deep dive on YouTube and discovered Mandi & CJ of On The Grow.YouTube videos are great but they only give bits and pieces and aren’t an easy go to source to quickly look up an answer. Most books I’ve read take an overview approach of: simple background on microgreens and then go overboard on various seeds you can grow followed by recipes. Don’t get me wrong, knowing about seeds is good but every seed company provides that information. On The Grow offers 10 recommended seeds. They share half a page of write up covering taste, crop details, sowing and grow details. No other microgreens book I’ve read gives this much information in such a confined context. Step by step they take you through the process as well as covering what to do if you run into problems.A few reviews have commented on the grammar or punctuation not being up to their standards. Seriously? People get distracted so easy. Get this book and grab all the knowledge it offers and don’t focus on something that doesn’t matter.5 Stars doesn’t convey enough. Simply put, if you want to grow microgreens this book is The bible. You won’t need another book.

For people who want to grow microgreens
What I appreciate about this book is it focuses on actually growing: what to grow, how to grow, the tools that help you grow, and even creative ways to grow. This is not a book that is trying to sell you on growing microgreens. I already have decided to grow, and that's what this book helps with. I appreciate the creative approaches that are explained to integrate microgreens growing from project with family, to hobby, to even business. I also appreciate the breakdown of the best crops to grow, and the different ways of growing them to get the best outcomes. I learned A LOT! One of my favorite surprises was seeing the authors grow microgreens inside of a pumpkin and novelty planters. I definitely want to try that. I also like the breakdown charts describing the different experiments and results for different growing mediums, watering systems, and lighting. This is very helpful for me to get an idea about what kind of variables to consider that can affect my end results. The biggest thing is this book makes microgreens growing as a newbie approachable and doable. There isn't too much to figure out, because it's all laid out, and I can start with bare essentials: seeds and soil/cococoir. Thank you for packing all this learning into this book. I already have my first tray of Speckled Peas germinating. A BIG learning was the 1-inch (or "shallow") 10x20 tray, because I had already purchased a 2" tray. I didn't even know smaller trays were available, or tray modules and colored trays. There is so much we can do. Thanks for opening all the possibilities.

Everything you need to know to easily get growing
Lots of great in-depth information for beginners to easily start growing their own microgreens. CJ and Mandi cover EVERYTHING so you're never left scratching your head wondering what you should do next. From basic equipment and setting up your space to grow mediums and nutrients, soil growth vs hydroponics. Which crops are good to start with, which are more advanced, how to spot and handle mould if it should occur, along with other common growing problems, etc. They leave no stone unturned. This book along with their YouTube channel are fantastic. I've learned a lot and am really enjoying growing my own microgreens.

Best Information Consolidated
Just wanted to say thank you to the authors for sharing all their hard work. Congrats on the book! It's amazing...and I appreciate you both. I've been able to use the microgreens I grow at home as a seasonal and fresh addition to menu items and specials I create at work. Its allowed me to supplement my income and avoid picking up a second job.

More work than one thinks
Expensive, and you better be a detailed person and keep good records. Also most people will never be able to make a business out of this. There are too many business “hats” to wear to make this a successful business.
