Kuhn Rikon High Performance Ratchet Grinder, White

Let's be clear - I love the Kuhn Rikon grinder. The action is clean and crisp and the results are great. BUT - after a year of occasional use one has broken into 4 pieces, rendering it completely useless.I have three others. There are two for salt and pepper in the kitchen and two more in the dining room, so it's not like the workload on each individual piece is excessive. And we're talking residential, not commercial use here - assume each one was used maybe 100 times. So for one out of four to break so quickly does show up a predisposition to break early in the lifecycle.No returns allowed after a month means that this was wasted money - I certainly didn't get value for money from the grinder. You do the maths - divide the price by 100, and that is what it will cost you to grind with this item!

Very easy to load and the ratchet action is much easier on the wrist than the conventional twist models, especially for the more elderly, or if you suffer from arthritis. Produces more ground peppercorn and with less effort than others I've used, and produces a more even coverage for grilling steaks. Also adjusting coarseness of grind is very simple to adjust by turning a small screw in the base. Too short a period of ownership to comment on longevity in use, but a great product for those who regularly use and want freshly ground pepper.UPDATE - 28 March 2019. Still going strong and no issues.

Bought for an elderly relative who has severe rheumatoid arthritis and who finds it difficult to grip things like pepper mills. It is very easy to use, the grind coarseness or fineness is easily adjustable. This is a very well designed product, ergonomically excellent, and has made one relative's life much easier, even in just a small way.

My old salt grinder broke and I needed a new one but fancied something a little different. This one looks amazing and works really well. Easy to use and easy to fill without making a mess! My only slight gripe is that although there is a dial to adjust how fine or coarsely it grinds, it is almost impossible to move. So my salt is much finer than I like it. But overall I'm really glad I got it and might get another to replace my pepper grinder.

Looks like a novelty item but really very practical. My previous mills were always tricky to grip with the wet hands I manage to have when cooking. This delivers a nice sprinkling with the easy grip lever - Smashey (of Smashey & Nicey) would love it. Easy to fill the tank & to see the contents.
