Works Well Mixed with Plain Greek Yogurt and Buckwheat Groats
I'm trying to limit my animal products to Greek plain yogurt and salmon in order to reduce my cholesterol. I mixed this vegan protein powder with Greek yogurt and buckwheat groats, added plain soy milk to get a good consistency and added berries and chia seeds. The taste and texture are both excellent. I'm getting 30 grams of protein from the vegan powder alone, which is 5 more grams than most whey proteins I've used in the past. I will continue using this as I try to lose weight, gain muscle, and reduce my cholesterol.

but it's not too bad in the one I make with bananas and/or sweet ...
I bought Vega Sport Protein Powder after doing some research about vegan protein powders and then purchasing a Vega Sport sample pack that included a berry, vanilla, and chocolate protein sample (among other things). I started with the vanilla thinking this would be the easiest flavor to incorporate into my routine which consists of a veggie/fruit smoothie for breakfast and sometimes a pre or post workout smoothie. I am not a big fan of the vanilla in my breakfast smoothie, but it's not too bad in the one I make with bananas and/or sweet potatoes, almond milk, and peanut butter powder. I think the vanilla leaves a bit of a noticeable after taste and seems to sweet in an artificial way (I can't think of a better way to describe it). That being said, I really like the chocolate in the aforementioned smoothie. It complements the peanut butter powder really well and I don't have the after taste issue I have with the vanilla. I was somewhat surprised to find that I love the berry flavored powder. Now I miss it when I make a smoothie without it. I think it helps smooth out the texture a bit (I mix my breakfast fruit/veggie smoothie with non-sweet green tea that I brew). I ran out and used some of the Vega Protein & Greens berry flavored powder (which was available at Target when I ran out while out of town). I definitely prefer the Vega Sport. I do always cut my portions in half so it's nice that the big container comes with a scoop that measures out a half portion. Adding some protein to my breakfast smoothie has helped me not be hungry before lunch. I'm a terrible morning eater, I'm just not usually hungry first thing, so having a liquid breakfast is very convenient.I'm also not an athlete per se. I chose the Vega Sport over some of the other Vega options because I have arthritis in my hip and the Vega Sport contains a number of ingredients that help with inflammation (turmeric and tart cherry are two of these) and the lack of animal proteins is beneficial too since I'm just not ready to go full vegetarian in my daily life but I am trying to limit things that can trigger my inflammation when I can. As part of my anti-inflammation eating, exercising, and weight maintenance program, Vega Sport has really been helping me. It tastes good and seems to work. I haven't been using the Vega Sport as much as a post-workout protein option as it is probably intended, but I do still think I'm getting some performance benefits from it (I use some other Vega Sport products as well).

One of the best proteins I ever had

Not the best vanilla flavor.
As far as the protein drink, it mixes well, but I don’t care much for the vanilla flavor. But then again you could always add your fruits to it to taste better. I believe it’s a good product other than the flavor I still wouldn’t have a problem, recommending it

Vega has lost a loyal customer with this crappy version.
I have been using Vega protein for years, and until recently have considered their product to be of the highest quality and worth the premium they charge. This newest iteration of their protein powder is such a crazy step down I can't believe it actually made it consumer deployment. We're talking "new Coke" levels of bad here. For example, this used to actually be a protein powder. Now it would more accurately be called a protein dust. This dust is so fine that it gets in every nook and cranny of anything you use it in. It's incredibly messy. Since it's so fine, any time you empty a scoop into a single-serving size container you get significant amounts of the dust splashing up and out of whatever you were putting it in. I find myself spending a few minutes trying to slowly, slowly tap it out of the scoop to avoid this but inevitably have to wipe down the counter after making a shake. Every. Single. Time. The flavor and texture have also changed here. What used to be a light and clean-feeling vanilla now makes me feel like I'm trying to choke down cake batter. It is much thicker and the flavoring much more intense. With the previous product, I could throw half of a banana and some almond butter in for a treat after an intense workout. If I did that with this current product it'd be so thick that it'd almost be like trying to drink dough. I now use only water with the dust, and it is still much thicker than the previous version when I used almond milk.I powerlift, and though I'm not a vegan I have loved the previous versions of this product and have had great results with it. I liked how high quality it felt, how I didn't feel bogged down, and how tasty it was. This new version is so bad that if it weren't so expensive I'd just throw it out. I'm currently looking for another protein shake that isn't a cake batter-y, dusty mess.I do not recommend paying Vega's premium prices for what is now an inferior product. As a sidenote - I have tried Whole Foods' store brand protein powder and it is the exact same dust "powder".

Good for all things but taste.
My rating is for the flavor only ! I have no issues with it being filling, good value, digestion or anything. But the flavor could use some help 😩 it’s just SO overly protein tasting with a wack aftertaste. I drink it with unsweet vanilla almond milk and it’s a struggle.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:Back 10 years ago, in order to train for Competitions, I had to stop being a vegan, which sadden me. For ethical reasons. Now, im able to train and stay vegan. Thank you for this invention.
