Perfect!
I recently got into fountain pens and find that I enjoy a fountain pen rather than a ball point pen, however, it is necessary to have a blotter to prevent smearing. I have half sheets of blotting paper but they are large and cumbersome. I got this J. Herbin Rocker Style blotter and it's perfect! It is a small tool so I can get it into tight corners and it conveniently fits into several storage spaces in my bill desk. The handle screws off so it is possible to replace the blotting paper. It is a necessary part of my desk acoutrements and I couldn't do without it. Also, mine is in a very nice cherry finish. It looks like quality and I always enjoy reaching for it and using it. I can highly recommend the J. Herbin Rocker Style Desk Wood Ink Blotter!

Great Little Blotter.
Great little blotter. It is pretty much as described. It is a little over 3" long and the blotting paper (comes with one installed) locks into the curved part by unscrewing the handle to loosen. I had been looking for a small blotter for when I was signing papers or filling in details and this works well. No issues. Many of the negative reviews comment on the size but it is plenty big enough for simple tasks.

Good quality, at best.
The product works, as do all blotter, but I thought since Herbin was a known name, the product would be incredible. However, the wood was not properly drilled and so there is a huge gap on one side that is visible. You would think that quality control would have made sure to simply look at the product to see if it were terribly misaligned or not.I have to say, I am a little disappointed in this, since it is touted by so many fountain pen enthusiasts and videos that I have seen. I just thought for the price I would be getting something high quality. There were a lot of other blotter choices on Amazon, some of which were beautiful metal with designs, but I chose this one because of the name brand recognition.Instead of being a beautiful piece to keep on my desk, it will be hidden in a drawer until needed to be used.

Easy to use.
This is a very idiot proof ink blotter. It's easy to use. It's easy to change out the paper. Most importantly, it just works. My writing with an ink quill has come to look much cleaner thanks to this product.

Also good for blotting gel-pen and other smeary kinds of inks.
I like that I don’t need to line my work surface with a large sheet of blotting paper. This blotter is very portable, versatile as to what inks it will blot, and fits my very small hand well.

Beware! Toy Blotter - miniature, not full size!
Read the dimensions carefully -- this is a toy blotter, not like a traditional blotter at all. Good for signature blotting, but not anything more. At the price, well, I guess the joke is on me. I would price it at maybe five dollars.

Poor quality
I love J Herbin inks, but wow does this suck. It gets such rave reviews from the fountain pen community only because there are virtually no other options (no options at all from known brands).First, the quality control is terrible. I ordered three of these (one for home, one for work, one for my partner's work) and of the three, two have noticeable gaps between the upper and lower parts. They're still useable, but you really do expect more from J Herbin.Second--and this only becomes apparent with relatively long-term use--the durability is virtually non-existent. After about the third blotter paper change each and every one of the handles stopped screwing into the body of the blotter. This defect renders the entire thing unusable as it can no longer hold blotter paper in place.Unfortunately, neither of these problems is likely to matter as, again, J Herbin is virtually the only option available in an age where few people write by hand at all, let alone with fountain pen. Personally, I've picked up a few vintage finds from the 1920s-60s.
