Outstanding electronic drum kit.
Roland is the first name in electronic drums. I have owed many drum kits both acoustic and electronic. I purchased this kit as I will soon be moving into an apartment and can no longer terrify my neighbors with my regular acoustic kit. If you are looking for electronic drums to cut down on the noise, and you are on a budget, this is the kit to get. The mesh pads have the same feel as a regular acoustic drum kit (The solid rubber pads of other electronic kits have too much stick bounce). All the drums are double triggered, which means you can do rim shots and they are also sensitive to how hard you hit the drum. The cymbals are also chockable, so you can silence them with a hand grab. It case you are wondering how Roland can put out a kit for half the price of most of their other sets, they have cut some corners. The actual drums and cymbals are the same quality, as far as I can tell, to their much more expensive kits. Where they have saved money is on the drum brain. It gives you 15 fantastic kit sounds ( hard rock, reggae, jazz, percussion, electronic etc), a metronome and even some included songs to play along with. What you don't get is the ability to tune individual drums to a specific pitch or the ability to input your own sounds, or add additional drums. These were all worthy trades offs to me. I love this kit. I am thrilled with this kit. It is rugged, easily portable and sounds terrific. So are there any negatives? The only negatives is I wish it played a little louder from the headphone jack as you can hear the sound of the sticks hitting the pads and cymbals even at the loudest volume setting with headphones on. There are easy work-arounds for this such as a cheap headphone amp or a more expensive drum monitor. I should also point out that the Tama Iron Cobra double drum pedal pictured in the photo does NOT come with the kit. It is in the photo only to illustrate that the bass drum pad surface is wide enough to accommodate a double pedal which is a huge plus. In closing, this is a fantastic electronic kit with an acoustic kit feel that is an incredible value.

Excellent kit
I am a beginner drummer who uses this kit for practice and jam sessions with friends. So far this kit has been great to me, simplistic but effective and fun to play. It sounds great and I appreciate all the different sound choices. The only complaints I have are that the sensors within the drum heads are sometimes a little unresponsive (due to the sensor's location at the bottom center of the drum heads) and that there are no sensors in the drum heads for rim hits.

Great little kit, but the photo's in the advertisement are misleading, otherwise a 5 star value
The TD-1DMK is great value- $550 + $250 for Tama Cobra Dbl Bass Pedal (You will never need another pedal in your life)However, the picture in the advertisement is misleading and deceptive. The Ad clearly shows three 8" triggers/pads and one 6" trigger/pad. Otherwise this would have been a 5 star purchase.i.e. Trigger/Pads as pictured (see above)8" ="Snare; Tom 1; Tom 26"= Floor TomWith that said, the quality of the kit is outstanding. I played many years ago, but like many of us I gave up the kit for dirty diapers and pacifiers. However, I missed playing. Now that I am responsible adult with a doctorate degree, I can afford any kit I want.I wanted a kit that was small enough for my home office and not OBNOXIOUS like an acoustic kit. This kit fit the bill. Before buying the TD-1DMK, I tried the Alesis and Yamaha base models at the local music store. The Roland triggers and pads are far superior to the leading brands in both sound and feel. Do yourself a favor and spend the few extra dollars for the Roland, you will not regret it. In fact, you will pat yourself on the back in the future if you decide to upgrade your kit.I did upgraded my module with an expanded TD10 module $300. This gave me far more control of my kit than with the TDK1 module-- at a fraction of the cost of a newer model module. In the end, this kit is perfect kit and size for beginners, but the kit is also suitable for playing small venues- even without the TD10 module upgrade.Lastly, the pads can be repurposed and added to any upgraded Roland kit- All Roland pads are cross compatible with all out Roland kits/modules.Good Luck,

Drum but quietly!
The reason I bought this is because my husband always talks about getting e-drums and I wanted to get him something he could use with headphones and something he could eventually use on Rock Band if he wanted to. It was easy to put together. My 7 year old is also learning to drum on it. Apparently it is also one of best brands of e-drums. It's an all around win!

Outstanding equipment and performance
My son is delighted with it now that he is an advanced drummer.Even tough is for "beginners" it has everything he needs for his level, since it is full adjustable, and brings plenty of fidelity to the scenario.100% recommend. The only improvement i find fair to mention, is that the electric panel for its setting is too basic with very few options, but for now, it certainly has everything needed even for and advanced drummer. No doubt Roland is quality, and worth the upgrade.

The perfect entry level edrum kit
This Roland kit is amazing for the price. The mesh heads feel great. This was the perfect kit to get back into drumming after not playing in almost 10 years. Double bass was huge for me and it works perfectly. I put my headphones on and play for hours.

Great quality electric drum set
I've owned an acoustic Yamaha drum kit for years and most of that time, it has been sitting in a closet or in the garage. My wife doesn't like me leaving it out as it takes up a lot of space and bugs the neighbors. I looked into a lot of different electric drum sets and most of the other reviews said to just get a Roland kit. So I did. And I do not regret it. I do have to say, on the model I got, the pads aren't as big as some of the other ones I've seen out there, but they are big enough to play on, and they feel amazing! The dual mesh heads are very realistic and are quality items. I do wish the control module had more customizable settings and wasn't as basic, but I'm not recording or doing anything crazy besides just playing on them, so it works. Very happy with my purchase!
