Beautiful color!
I went through 7 different colors before coming across this one. Was a bit worried at first when it goes on super bright purple but after drying leaves a beautiful rich purple. I did have to apply 3 coats to get the desired shade of this stain and though it has poly in it did have to get a can of straight poly after a while as it was starting to fade. Overall will be getting this again for a couple other diy projects!

Didn't work for my project
Easy enough to use and works well enough with a couple layers on previously unstained wood. Trying to stain sanded down cabinets that were previously stained a much lighter color, however, not so much. I tried 3 layers and it never got darker than the 1st layer. Ended up getting the gel stain of this same brand and that worked a lot better for my projects and was a less mess, in my opinion.

Coverage is great!
I painted a lighter colored, water stained table. I did a light sanding, and this covered great! I did two coats for the color I wanted. It dried in a few hours and it looks good.

Looks amazing!
Took about four coats and it turned our orange fireplace into something new! Super happy about it. No sanding or anything!

Great for repairs and old stained wood
I've used this stuff a lot over the years. You defintely have to get a feel for how it goes on and how to apply it the best way. It can take multiple coats to reach a uniform look. I use Varathane oil over this for top coats, not a fan of Minwax poly. For instance; I used this color on a badly stained bannister that had lost its finish and years of neglect had left the wood with dark pits and stains that weren't coming out no matter how much I sanded. I removed as much of the old finish and stain by sanding. Cleaned it with mineral spirits and applied three coats of Polyshades, using the brush to spread and mimic the grain. You have to work fast and spread it out so that it doesn't accumulate in one area. I sanded between coats and finished with a couple coats of Varathane oil. It darkened the wood enough so that the stains and damage were barely visible.I do wish they had more colors available.
