Could be very dangerous!
We had a new greenhouse installed and want to use an old-fashioned paraffin stove. I purchased one of these in May 2021 and filled it with paraffin in readiness for the colder days to come.At first sight it appears to be ideal for the task. The main 'can' is robust, see-through and has quantities clearly shown. There are two handles - one for lifting when full and one for pouring when the contents are needed. On top of the can is a large 'filling' hole with a tightly fitting cap.Towards the front of the can, however, is another access point. As can be seen from the photo, this accommodates the spout - through which the contents are poured when required. That spout, however, has to remain permanently fitted in place - if not the contents are open and nobody leaves open fuel cans stored away - anywhere! At the base of the nozzle is a thin lip of plastic which fits around the edge of the opening and is then screwed tightly closed by the blue clasp. All very simple and most people have seen many similar items elsewhere. When moving an item around the shed in which the full can was stored, that nozzle was knocked off - leaving the can open. Had the can been over-full, paraffin would have leaked everywhere. The white lip had separated from the nozzle rendering the entire product unfit for purpose. In short, the nozzle will no longer fit into place and I have no suitable cap which would enable me to seal the contents.Mistakes happen - bit this one could have led to something far more dangerous than an open can of high;y flammable fuel.NM
