Used to Replace the Broken Control Box on My Wood Planer
I used this for a replacement for the cracked and broken switch box on the 15" Delta Planer rebuild on my woodworking channel on YouTube, Trap Door Woodworks. One odd thing to note, is that when cutting, the material this box is made of will clog a jigsaw blade very fast! You need to pick the material off of your blade with a scratch awl , nail, or something similar. My install has a safety switch for the machine itself, a temperature gauge for the motor, and an on/off switch for the gauge.

Good shielding, easy to machine
The solid molded enclosure is great for shielding RF and other noise from sensitive circuit. Chuck it up in the (CNC) mill and make cutouts. Information is available to make a 3D model, and using that model, my design produced working parts the first time. (Do wish BUD actually had the 3D model available tho'.)

I have bought two for projects. The same Amazon link but was shipped two slightly different boxes. The first is great and clearly has the part number embossed inside the box. It slightly thicker aluminum and matched the dimensions listed. The second was nearly (within .02") the same at the lid but the box walls tapered almost .25" so the outside of the bottom is smaller than the lid. The lid fit well but is not interchangeable with the first box and no internal embossed part number. Make me wonder if they are selling another vendor but using the BUD product info. Both boxes are sturdy and well made. I'd give the first box 5 start but the taper required me to redo my design files for the milling operations and that annoyed me.

Project Box = Perfect
This box is described as being an "Econobox", but there is nothing "economy" about it. The box is very well made and looks the part. It is nicely finished in a burnished look...that is to say that it is not highly polished, which is exactly what I was looking for. The lid fits as if it was machined as part of the box (which it could have been..) and includes screws for closing. The size of this box is just about right for my project which includes a cooling fan, a 12V power supply, and a temperature controller along with a power switch and an LED meter. The only thing I had to do was to ventilate the box which was easily done with a drill press (or you could use a milling machine or even a hand drill...). I looked at plastic project boxes, but I am really happy that I chose this nicely done Aluminum box. Clean and solid....You can't ask for anything more than that...Five stars for a "just about perfect" project box. And the price is very fair for a box of this quality and size.

$32 and the screw holes are not tapped?
It's a good box, but for $32 it pissed me off that the screw holes are not tapped. Just more work for me to do now. If you are fine with tapping the holes yourself then it's a fine box.

Exactly what you'd expect from a die cast box.
This is a fantastic box, I've bought a couple over the past year. It's simple, an aluminum box... not much more to say. As with ALL molded parts, it has a draft angle (it is ever so slightly shaped like a trapezoid), I saw a couple comments complaining about this. So if you are designing something with tight size constraints, get a box bigger than you need.Pro-tip: depending on what your doing, try to design your project to mount all to the "lid". That way if you need to fix or work on wiring, when you remove the box, everything is exposed. As opposed to removing the lid, and having to reach into the box to work on wiring etc.
