Updated and simply plug and play.
HBA works and was already on the newest firmware and bios with it flashed to IT mode already. the two sata cables it came with were quality and worked as well.some SAS drives may need to do the 3.3v tape mod to have the drives spin up.

I would pass on this hba
bought in march, its now July and this unit already dead. looking at other comments it would appear this is a common occurance. other than getting it quickly I don't see a benefit of buying this.

Invisible upgrade!
So good! Literally plug-and-play with my NAS!Running out of space in my TrueNAS server, and prepping to add some more drives as upgrading my individual drives would cost way too much. I mean really... spinning rust is 'old hat' now, there is no reason why large drives cost more today than they did 10 years ago! But I digress... this at least kicks the problem down the road.Install was super-simple! Powered down, added the card, removed the old SATA connections going to the motherboard, and connected the SATA cables that came with the card. Powered up, and TrueNAS didn't skip a beat! It found the card, found the drives, and booted without any issues at all. No noticeable difference in performance, it was truly an 'invisible upgrade' which is something of highest praise for these kinds of devices! Now I have space to add 8 more drives to the motherboard, and expand the Z-Pool, and have created an even larger upgrade problem for future-me to deal with when faced with upgrading 16 HDDs... unless I add another one of these cards :)My understanding is that these come in multiple firmware options, and it can be tricky to change the firmware to be compatible with your setup. If you just want to do a JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Drives) passthrough and present your drives to a software Raid like ZFS, then this is the version of the product for you. I believe if you get the other firmware options where the card does more of the drive management then you can get additional features, but those are all effectively disabled with this firmware.

Works great with Windows 10
This adapter works great for adding additional drives to a Windows 10 PC. I tried other brands but got blue screens with them.

great product works out of the box
Used to RAID6 a set of Seagate Ironwolf NAS drives. worked right out of the box and required no special configuration. The reasonable price for the controller was also nice.

Failed After 60 Days.
Failed after 60 Days. The card worked perfectly play-and-play for 60 days and then failed. I plugged the drives which were plugged into this card directly into the motherboard and they worked. Tried new cables, that didn't fix it. It is 100% the card. Very frustrating and unfortunate.

Works great
I use this in my unraid server and it works great. Plug and play. Highly recommend if you're looking to expand your drive capacity.
