Reading other reviews, and now having used this product myself, I can understand the issues. Scanning high-quality pictures, despite the 900 dpi capability of the unit is very difficult, not because of any inherent problem with the unit, but because it is necessary to move the unit both very straight and also at a closely consistent speed to get a result like these people seem to wish to get. This is not the tool for that job, it takes a flatbed scanner.I, however, wanted to scan paragraphs and partial pages of text in order to capture information without having to write it all down or type it in. Even on a low res setting (300 dpi), it is far more than adequate for this purpose. It did involve climbing a learning curve, but after a half dozen attempts, I had it down perfectly and now get great results every time. I got a 32 gig micro SD card, and 2 extra rechargeable batteries since it can wear them down pretty quickly, and now my trips to the library are far more productive. I am delighted!

The portable scanner works just as promised. Even low resolution scans look excellent. Very small, light weight, and easy to store which is perfect for anyone who's wanting to minimize their office foot print at home, school, or work.Two down sides are that if you have a crease in your papers (think of how birth certificates are folded into envelopes), it can throw it off track a little bit. Other one is that it can't be powered by usb connection, so even if it is plugged into a computer it will still require the 2 AA batteries. So if you plan on buying this, maybe invest in rechargeable batteries.Over all the value out weighs the cons. Just be careful to make sure you try and scan evenly

While scanning, this scanner requires constant speed and alignment that makes it very very difficult to get a good scan. Smarter software ought to be able to correct speed variations. A 2nd wheel may be needed to handle off-angle scanning.

Extremely frustrated with this!!! This is a OBSOLETE PRODUCT. Software will not load. Spent hours trying. Even downloaded from manufacturer. Has old style USB cord. In the age of rechargable devices needs AA batteries.

The portability is incredible. The quality of the images is prime. The price is very small.

FAILED AFTER THREE SCANS.

Sometimes it like lags or something and makes the pictures look funky. But for a portable scanner could be my error.

It works. Over performed for me. Buy it you wont regret it.
