VonShef Premium 7L White Halogen Air Fryer Oven 900W, with Timer, High Rack & Low Rack and Tongs

Ideal small halogen oven for one person. I bought this for my elderly mother who is no longer strong enough to lift the heavy lid of her larger version. The lid on this is lightweight and she copes well. You will need some small dishes (metal, stoneware or glass) to cook things in, preferably with a lip. There are special tongs supplied for lifting out the hot dishes. These fit over the lip of the dish but they tend to slip if you don't have a strong grip on them. Because the bowl is quite small it is a bit awkward getting dishes out when they are hot so you'll need to practice and take care with hot things. I'm not complaining - just stating the drawbacks of a small halogen oven. We have been using this type of cooker for years - they are ideal for meat, fish, potatoes, ready meals etc. The only thing they won't cook is vegetables.

I needed a smaller halogen oven and this 7l size is ideal for me. I had two larger ones in the past, so have adjusted my thinking of cooking to this style of heat.The one thing that is te downfall of all haolgen ovens is the heating element in the lid. You do have to be very careful not to fuse it by allowing water or splatters to disable it. Cleaning the lid is also a delicate operation too.That said, it is a very economical way to cook and has the browning facility that a microwave does not.I have never had this VonShef brand before and the niggle I do have is the little latch on the top. I have to click the handle several times before it engages - so be aware of thatOtherwise I hope to have many hours of reasonably cost cooking.

Bought this to use in my caravan. Really like it especially the wash function.

Bought November 2016 - broke Feb 2019 i.e. just after 2 year warranty ran out. Great when working but be prepared to buy a new one every 2 years (can not source replacement bulb for heating unit).
