Fast ship, beautiful book. Love the illustrations. I highly recommend this author's books to anyone, all ages. Also, you should read 'Mr. Wuffles". Again great illustrations but a very funny storyline!

As an educator of young children for over 20 years, this book was a classic in my classroom. And now, I give it routinely as a gift. There are no words, which means that children get to use their imagination and verbal skills. For older children, it's an amazing writing prompt (all the way to high school). For second language learners, it allows them to see experience a story without the need to translate.In every picture, there are hidden clues to what comes next. David Weisner is a genius at understanding the creative minds of children and bringing them to life. A wordless book is a valuable asset in a digital age. I can't recommend this book (or any of his books) highly enough.

This is a truly one of the most wonderful books picture books that I have ever had the pleasure to read. This book has become a favorite in my household (toddler to preschool age). The book is about a young boys dreams and how the dreams and the objects in them meld and change throughout the night. A good example is how the green-checked bedspread turns into farmland, and then later it turns into a chessboard. Also, the pawn pieces on the chessboard that accompany him throughout his dream turn out to be the salt and pepper shakers on his bedside table.It is truly a visually stunning book. The story is never the same and every time we read it, we find something new that amazes us.There are no words at all and I did have to "read" it a few times to show my 3 year old the intricacies of the pictures before he understood the flow of the book.

Bought this for a young student of mine because he LOVES Tuesday. This one--not so much but it's still a great companion to Tuesday. I wish the colors were brighter and there was more fun to it.

This is my favorite wiener book, and that is saying a lot since they are all basically amazing. I'd give 5 stars to pretty much all of them. I like just pointing out what is on the page and hearing my kid ask questions. The one downside to these books is you have to make it up as you go since there are no words - not for the exhausted end of night, collapsing reads. That said these books have amazing art and great narratives. I cannot think of another children's author I would rather re-read over and over (and over) than wiener (and maybe munschworks). In my opinion this is a must have. I also find sector 7, flotsam, and Tuesday to be in heavy rotation at our place right now. All are five stars. Great gifts too.

Wiesner's art work is always beautiful and the stories are full of ideas and fun. This book is no exception. See what happens when a boy falls asleep with a book on his chest and dreams of finding other places. One message in the book is that reading can take you on journeys that are fantastic. Dreams can turn these places fantastical! It is great fun to look at the pictures and imagine with a child what is happening and what people may be saying and how the boy is feeling about this time travel. Sometimes books with out words are the best.

Beautiful illustrations! It really encourages imagination, and increases verbal skills for both the reader and hearer. Just to be clear, its only illustrations. The boy falls asleep and you follow his dream. You can make a new story each time. At first, it was a little intimidating, but after a couple times, we were able to have a lot of fun with it. We first got Hurricane by David Wiesner, and loved it so much that I searched for other similar titles. I will be getting this book for birthdays for sure.
