NOW whey protein is my choice of protein powder from now on.
First time trying their whey protein. I will say I am amazed by the quality and flavor. It goes down smooth. Does not upset my stomach. I can cut weight while maintaining my muscle and strength. They don't use artificial sweetners and they test for banned substances. What more can you ask for as an athlete? This is a great brand. I am using them now as my source for protein and many other products. I am very glad to have found this brand.

Great all natural whey powder, but with an aftertaste.
I was very hopeful that I had found the ultimate whey powder for myself. I wanted something that was 1) High quality, 2) All natural, 3) Free of unnecessary additives, 4) affordable, and 5) tasted good. Well, 4 out of 5 isn't bad. This is definitely a high quality powder, it has 80% less cholesterol than the GNC Pro Performance I was using, has ZERO artificial additives, and is very reasonably priced. The only complaint I have, and this isn't a huge one, is the Stevia. Now as far as alternate sweeteners go, Stevia is one of the best all-natural alternatives you can find. Unfortunately it has an aftertaste that can linger just as strong as an artificial sweetener, and the usage in this powder seems just a bit heavy-handed, especially since it does use some fructose as well. Personally I could taste the Stevia more than the vanilla. If you know you like Stevia as a sweetener, then this gets a 100% recommendation. If you are unsure, try out a stevia-sweetened drink from a health foods section and see what you think first. If you dislike the aftertaste, then do what I am going to do next time, and just pick up the Unflavored NOW Whey Protein Isolate and adjust to your own tastes. Unflavored whey powder is almost tasteless, and works great as a base for shakes of any flavor.

Great Whey Isolate
This is probably one of the best whey protein isolates out there for the price. Dissolves well, has a simple ingredients list, no aspartame or sucralose(it’s sweetened with stevia), and the taste is pretty decent. I’m not the biggest fan of the flavor of stevia but it doesn’t bother me in this. It pairs especially well with chocolate almond milk.

Consistently high-quality
Taste is quite subjective so I encourage people to try this for themselves. The vanilla is certainly sweet but not disgustingly so, in my opinion. It does have a strange smell but I find the taste pleasant and easy to like. I mix this with unflavored almondmilk and have been quite impressed at how well it dissolves; other brands tended to clump unless my shaking was quite vigorous. The 1.8 pound jar is a bit silly, in my opinion. If your'e using two scoops a day, it will last you just under two weeks. Unless you are constantly rotating to different flavors, or don't like the feeling of being "locked in" with a larger tub, just buy the 5 or 10 pound size and save considerable cash. If you're doing Subscribe and Save, you'll want two of these 1.8 pound jars per month. A 5 pound jar should last over a month. When it comes to product quality, this one has been consistently well-rated. Although I've not seen it at the top of any purity/potency test lists, it is always near the top -- and I think that speaks volumes. In particular, I think the repeated ranking means that it is consistent and that NOW is indeed turning out a quality product that you can trust. I'm always skeptical when a new brand suddenly appears at #1, or when something that used to rank near the bottom suddenly climbs 20 positions. My advice is to try each of the flavors in the 1.8 pound jars before committing to the larger ones. The vanilla is decent. The chocolate is similar to YooHoo but a bit bland. Strawberry is coming in my next Amazon order so I can't comment on that. I've not tried unflavored, but I suppose it would be a nice addition to an existing smoothie or recipe you already have.

10lb oops
For the money it's good enough, the macros are fine but the flavor is just off. The aftertaste leaves a lot to be desired as well. Ironically when I bought this I was thinking to myself "how could someone screw up vanilla?" The good news is literally anything you put in this will be an improvement.

Zylitol equals blood clot risk!
NOW has a good reputation for being a quality supplement company. I have been using their products for years. I can no longer recommend this product because they use Xylitol (second ingredient in the vanilla flavor) as their primary sweetener. All recent research has proven this to be a dangerous additive that can lead to blood clots (In this same study, researchers found that when 10 people without diabetes or heart disease drank a xylitol-sweetened beverage, their blood samples showed changes to platelets that could increase the risk of blood clots). Why does NOW continue to use a sweetener that is proven to be potentially harmful? Because it's cheap. I'd rather buy unflavored protein powder and put in my own sweetener (like maple syrup, yum), than pump this poison into my system. Other protein company's are even worse, but I expect better from NOW. Use at your own risk. I know I won't.
