Well made
Works great for getting belts to the correct tension. It's very easy to use, just kind of bulky so it can be hard to get it in tight areas. You can leave it on the belt while adjusting the tightness, making it really easy to get it to the right tension. s

You need it as a Automotive Tech
When I first started, the Sears automotive tech technician instructor told us that we needed one of these. Well after five years of ignoring that great advice I finally bought one and realized that I have been a moron and I should’ve bought one five years ago.

Works great if you have plenty of room around it to use it.
Easy to use & read. You need plenty of side room & top room to use this. This is not for tight areas at all.

Very well made. Accepts thick serpentine belts.
Great tool perfectly sets tension. Far better than thumb pressure and a ruler. One reviewer says it only opens to 1/16 inch. Not true. There is a lot of spring tension in this device. You have to give the tool a firm squeeze to get it to open it up. Too bad the reviewer wasn't strong enough to use this tool. Very well made. Takes only a second to use. Have used hundreds of times over past 5 years.

I'm a car mechanic. It's kind of a large tool to fit in some cramped engine bays. 95% of the time I seem to be able to get it hooked on to the belt so I can take an accurate measurement. For the vehicles that I can't measure, this tool keeps my hand calibrated which has stopped me from getting belt tension too loose, which was my former tendency. It's a well built tool that gets used every other day around here.

Cheap plastic holding the spring breaks easily
For this kind of money, it is a solid tool except for the cap holding the spring in place, It is the kind of cheap plastic used in toys at the dollar store, self disintegrated in storage from the spring tension on it. They could have used Nylon, or thermoset, instead of few cents worth of junk plastic that renders a $200 tool inoperable. What happen to PRIDE? maybe somebody can tell me how to get a replacement?
