Love this mixer!
I bought the KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixer in gloss cinnamon for myself. It arrived from Amazon very fast. The mixer is very heavy and sturdy. I love that it came with a plastic splatter shield for adding ingredients - this has helped when adding confectioners sugar for frosting as the powder usually ends up everywhere. The mixing bowl locks in place which I love. I have had this mixer for one month and have used it at least 6 times already. I can tell this mixer will last me for many years to come. I plan to purchase the shredder/slicer attachment. I especially loved that there were a LOT of color choices for this mixer. I brought this mixer to my mom's house when we made Christmas cookies together and by the time we were done making cookies she ordered the same mixer in pale yellow through Amazon too.

Mixer great, shield broken
01-31-17 Updated to 5 star... I don't know why I was told it would take months to get the shield- mine arrived yesterday, and was not broken this time. I really love this mixer - you don't need to go high up on the mixing scale: low revolutions work just fine with regular recipes. The bowl cleans up in a snap, and I think using the mixer is a great time saver!Love the mixer itself, am not happy that the pouring shield arrived with a huge piece broken off, and large cracks throughout. The shield can not be used. I contacted KitchenAid and they said they would mail out a new one. One week after that conversation I received a voicemail stating that the shields are not in stock and they would try to get one out in the next few months (??????). I am giving four stars because of this.

Perfect for any baking enthusiast
First off, I gotta say... wow. The kitchenaid mixer really lives up to the hype. I'm a self-proclaimed semi-ametuer chef and baker, but I've only every worked with hand mixers. This thing is the real deal though. My cheesecakes in the past have been notoriously laborious, having to scrape the sides before adding the eggs and after adding the eggs to avoid unmixed cream cheese. That's a thing of the past now (I did buy a mixer head with a silicon side scraper, though the stock one works just as well). I can mix my filling ingredients whilst intricately levelling and perfecting the sides of my graham cracker crust, cutting 5-10 minutes off of prep time. When making regular cakes, I can throw the ingredients in, start the mixer, and forget about it as I oil and flour my pans, reducing prep time there as well. If you've never owned a kitchenaid stand mixer before, like me, you'll be surprised at how dang heavy it is! The entire structure is metal, and it's a hefty piece, at least 25 lbs. You're getting a solid piece of machinery. I've bought 2 attachment sets so far and I'm starting to realize just how much of an all in one small kitchen appliance this is. It's very easy to use, with one lever to lock/release the tilting head and another lever that clicks between the multiple speeds. I would definitely recommend the dime test though. The mixer heads are recommended to clear the bowl by 1/16th of an inch. A dime (10 cent American coin) is exactly 1/16th of an inch. Set your dime in the bottom of the bowl around the small point in the middle of the bottom of the bowl, and turn on the mixer with the standard whisk head attached. If the head moves the coin every time it spins around, you're good. If it doesn't, unlock and tilt the head back to reveal a flathead screw in the joint and turn that screw 180° clockwise. Rinse and repeate until your mixer head is touching and moving the dime with each gyration. This guarantees that your ingredients will be fully incorporated from bottom to.top, as the mixer head will touch every inch of the bowl. Kitchenaid says their mixers come properly calibrated, but mine took 4 turns to properly scrape the full bowl. It was a big purchase for me, but I couldn't recommend it more. If you enjoy baking as a hobby like I do, you gotta get yourself one of these artisan mixers. You'll feel like a pro and with the color options, it can accent any kitchen :)

It looks so good sitting on my kitchen counter
The red glossy Cinnamon color is gorgeous! It looks so good sitting on my kitchen counter. Aside from looking good, it works great! I have made cakes, cookie dough, breads and pizza dough. And the Angel food cake turned out amazing! Can you tell this is my first stand mixer? I had no idea what I was missing all these years! It’s very simple to use and clean-up is easy too. The pouring shield is great for keeping things neat and not having flour mixture all over the counter! The only problem I can see is if you don’t plan on keeping the mixer on your counter. If you plan on storing it away in a kitchen cabinet, be warned, it is heavy.

Love it!
I got this for Christmas. One of the best gifts I've ever received. In 3 days I've made peanut butter cookies, chocolate chip cookies, rolls, white cake and white bread. Oh, and I mashed potatoes for dinner with it. It takes all the work out of baking. It comes with a small recipe booklet which has some basic recipes to get you started. I am not a bread maker. My idea of homemade bread was buying frozen dough and putting it in pans. The bread I made today was fantastic! And so easy! I purchased the Beater Blade with my mixer and I'm so glad I did. It scrapes the bowl on both sides. Well worth the extra $20. My Kitchenaid mixer far exceeds my expectations.

Powerful and good looking.
I've had my mixer for a while now and have only good things to say about it. It's powerful and heavy duty. I've used it mainly for mixing cakes but I have used it once to make bread. It powered through the job without any hesitation and never slowed down or sounded like it was underpowered. Mine came with the stainless steel bowl but I wish I had gotten the glass one. I like to watch the batter as it mixes to make sure everything is combining correctly and I just can't do that with the stainless bowl. I have the ice cream maker on my Amazon Wish List and I'm looking forward to trying it. This mixer should last me the rest of my lifetime and be a family heirloom.
