Seems to be hit-and-miss with SD cards
Okay, several things -a) The QNine SD-to-IDE44 adapter is based on the KTC FC1307A bridge chip, which is a bit of a hit-and-miss with various SD cards and IDE controllers on various hardware. So if it doesn't work, it's either the card or the IDE controller. Possibly even both. In general, Class 10 16/32GB SDHC cards are okay. Anything else (U1, U3, A1) might cause it not to work, and as for SDHC/SDXC? I am not even sure. I had 64GB SDXC cards work in certain cases, and not in others.b) Watch out for DOA components - I got one that did not work regardless of what I tried.c) Be careful of Pin alignment - Make sure that you know where Pin 1 needs to be.d) The FC1307As are limited by a theoretical transfer speed of 25MBytes/sec. Not quite UDMA6 speeds nor would it be up to the U1/U3/A1 speeds of certain cards.

Revive your super old laptop!
Installed and working great in an Averatec 3150 laptop! If you want to revive a similarly aged laptop with a PATA connector, I'd recommend this over a hard drive.

Good product!
This little guy works well. I used it to resurrect my antique Gateway laptop (circa 2004). I put a PNY 128GB SD card in it and setup a dual boot with Linux Mint and Win XP. I used Crystal Diskmark to compare performance versus the existing 80GB Western Digital HDD. The SD device performed slightly slower in sequential read/write operations, but significantly faster in random read/write tests. Overall I believe it provides a modest boost in disk performance over the existing HDD. My only complaint is the small size with no provisions to mount it. I had to get pretty creative to fabricate an adapter to mount it to the laptop's drive caddy. I would give 5 stars if it was the same size as a 2.5” drive or provided brackets to facilitate mounting. Also it would be nice if it allowed multiple SD cards in a RAID configuration like some of the CF adapters do. But for the price I can't complain. It's cheap and it works.

Didn’t work for me
No matter what I did, I couldn’t get this to work.I ended up returning it. Might have been my PC or a defective unit.Either way I'm happy I was able to send it back.

Yowza who knew?
Works as advertised in my HP Pavilion dv8305us (2 drive bay laptop. Haven’t tried it in bay 2 yet). I bought Sandisk 64 and 128 cards and they both work. XP on 64 and 7 on the 128. Been running for a couple weeks just fine.

Seems to be great so far
Seems to be great so far! I put a 64gb 95 mb/s SD card in it to run my PowerBook G4 Ti. There was nothing special about the process and it was recognized by Mac OS as a drive immediately. Seems to perform well. I would buy more.
