Q: what does the double gong ringer sound like and can the ringer sound volume be adjusted?

Hi Carolyn, I ordered this phone for my 89 year old mom. She's in assisted living in her own little apartment. This phone is a standard old style desk phone. The ringer is clear and very loud. It can be adjusted down in volume. I'm not sure about the "double gong ringer". It sounds like a standard ringing phone to me. It is a heavy, solid phone. My mom had trouble hanging up cordless phones, so we got two of these for her apartment. No more problems hanging up as they easily go in their cradle. I hope this helps you.

Q: Does this phone come with the plug jack extention cord?

I do not remember if it did or not, I purchased a 20 ft one for the phone as it went in a nursing home for my Mother in law. I do not think that it did though.

Q: does this have the indentation behind handset like the original model to carry easier?

I've never noticed it before. I just looked, and yes, there is an indentation where you could put a few fingers and carry the phone easier.
