Body Solid SMR 1000 Rack
***** Update, 5 and a half years later and this thing is still holding strong. There are little bits of chipped paint with minor touches of rust (my garage isn't insulated). But aside from minor cosmetic stuff, this thing is still in perfect condition.I was hesitant to buy a rack with no reviews anywhere! But I went for it because the price was great and it had everything I wanted. I was shocked that i "stole" this for under $1,000. This rack competes with almost all of the higher end racks. It's built like a tank. So far I've done toes to bar (i weigh 240lbs) and the thing doesn't even flinch. I also failed on a squat of 315 and dropped it on the safety bars about a foot and a half away and it caught it just fine, not even a mark.... in the picture you can see it has a traditional pull up bar in the front but on the back it also has a neutral grip pull up as well. It says to bolt it to the floor, but I didn't and have put it thru plenty of tests to make it move, but it refuses to do so... if i could find one negative it would be that the gun rack can cause scratching on your bar. but I was told that is quite typical for the gun rack style. otherwise it has everything you could ask for: plate storage, band pegs, easy safety adjustment, confidence that it will keep me alive when I fail on bench. If I could give this thing 6 stars I would.

I would not buy again...ever
I have been working out for a long time, and my latest gym purchases are replacing old Weider stuff which at the time I considered to be sub-par equipment...but for the money it worked. I have worked out at commercial gyms as well as my last home gym so I wanted to get some quality equipment this time. Big mistake. So what is wrong with this rack?1) The bar catches are way too shallow. They might be OK for someone who is not doing heavy or max rep workouts, and has the time to look at both sides of the rack to make sure that the bar is going to go into both catches. But for someone who does intense work outs this thing sucks. You will miss putting it on the same numbered catch, which will put everything uneven or you will put the bar on one catch assuming the other is in place until you find out the hard way that it completely missed the catch and then you are in WTF mode.2) When I work out I like to be efficient. I have a designated area for all of my equipment, and my previous rack/cage I could do deadlifts within the cage. You cannot do deadlifts within this rack. Why? Body Solid welded posts on the outside of the rack for bands to be attached to when doing squats. These posts block any chance of a barbell with plates being able to be used for deadlifts. So my option is to modify the rack to either cut these posts off so they are not in the way or make them so that they can be removed/attached.3) For something that costs as much as it did, and is supposed to be commercial I can make mine wobble. It sits on a very level concrete floor, there are no twists from assembly, and I am not sure how this can genuinely be a commercial device.4) This thing is shipped in thin, cheap cardboard boxes. The plastic banding straps had completely sawed through the OEM boxes, and in my case I was missing a few items but fortunately they were not crucial and I was able to put everything together. The seller so far has been outstanding so far in wanting to take care of what was missing...just waiting for the parts to arrive. This is a LOT of coin for a rack, and I had thought going with Body Solid was going to be a safe, easy bet with no worries...but that was not the case. There is no commercial gym that would ever install something like this as the members would get hurt using this. I can deal with the posts that are in the way, the slight wobble...but the shallow catches are just dangerous and are very poor engineering.Adding more info as to why this thing is garbage. When you do squats you get positioned under the bar, and then stand up to get the bar off of the catches. With this POS the catches are too close together so you cannot do that. Instead you have to stand a little forward and then take a step backwards while taking the weight off of the catches. If you don't then the bar will hit the next catch up and cause bigger problems. Then try putting 400 pounds back onto catches that are too shallow and too close together. This thing is a death trap as the way it was designed.

Very solid, but gun rack too thin
I really like this rack, and I use it all of the time. I am 230 lbs, and the pull up bars are extremely sturdy for me. I gave this 4 stars because the gun rack is too thin. It is half as thick as the hammer strength rack at my gym. Otherwise very satisfied with the purchase

I'm very happy with my choice
I've been researching for power racks for quite a long time, so many choices. I have read so many reviews and decided to buy the Body Solid Rack. Couldn't be happier. Very solid material, it took me a couple of hours to put it together, but it was worth the time. The spotter support is also very solid, very well built in general. The rack doesn't move when doing pull ups or Toe to bar, which was my main concern. For those doing crossfit at home, this rack takes care of a wide range of exercises with the advantage of being able to do heavy stuff without having a spotter.

"I want to pump, you up!"
high quality, fast shipping, easy to assemble. if you like to lift alone, this thing is perfect. I had a couple of standard benches and I could never push my limits. very solid and safe. the speed rack is awesome. No more moving pegs to adjust the height of your bar. it's simply a perfect piece of equipment that will last forever. highly recommend
