Pricey but worth every penny
I used this for a backpacking trip on the Black Mountain Crest Trail in western North Carolina. There is a high population of black bears in the area. Since my hike, over-nighting has been prohibited because of the bear problem. That's how many bears there are. I used this in conjunction with an odor free sack and didn't have a problem. It's not bulky like a bear canister and you don't have the hassle of hanging a bear bag, which is iffy anyway. I tied it to a tree away from the tent as suggested and in the morning it hadn't been touched. This one's a keeper.

but it seems sturdy and much lighter than a bear canister
Well I dont have a bear to test it with, but it seems sturdy and much lighter than a bear canister. I do feel like the attached rope could have been just a bit longer for thick tree branches, especially considering how much this thing costs... I dont think an extra 12 inches of cord would have been too much to ask but hey, it is what it is.

Bought this bag for a first backpacking experience and was really excited. It fit all my food and dishes for a 3 day treck, which I packed the night before leaving. Considering it couldn't withstand an investigation from my 30lb puggle, who left a 3/4" gash right in the middle of the fabric, I'm not going to believe the bag is bear resistant, let along "bullet proof". Reconsider purchasing this bag.

Great idea but they cut too many corners on the manufacturing
The idea is good, and it's much lighterweight than regular rigid containers. My less than "great" review is because the manufacturing quality is poor. The holes that the cord come through are unfinished when they should have grommet eyelets finishing the edges. The ends of the cords themselves are also raw when they should have aglets finishing them to prevent wear and fraying. For the high cost of this item it should be manufactured better than what it is.

Fantastic product, very enjoyable to use compared to a bear canister, and so much lighter. I really hope they can get it approved in Yosemite (check and make sure it will work where you are planning to backpack or camp).

no telling if it will really work
seen many reviews and in all of them the bags look alot different from what I received, never the less, material looks like it can hold ( I hope it will ) only thing is, the top doesn't close all the way, enough space for bugs to crawl in

Worked for 6 nights in Denali backcountry. Not a sniff from the beers with an Opsack inside. 4 stars b/c I have not tested it against an animal so ill reserve the 5 star review for those folks who have. At 7.8 oz, its hard to not give it a shot.
