Great knives. Good stand.
The knives are wonderful. They've held up fine, and while I usually hand-wash knives (I'm going to need them again before the dishes get run) they do fine in the dishwasher. They're comfortable to hold, they cut, and the steel keeps them sharp. The missing star:1) I don't like having the brand name emblazoned on the handle. The way the stand displays the knives, I see the brand name FIVE TIMES in a single glance. I grok branding, but this is annoying.2) The stand is lighter than I would like. It's great if you're putting the knives away wet, and it turns, but I do feel like I'm going to break it.3) The rubber thumb-guards on the scissors are removable (cool!) but are flexible enough that they can be pushed out if you grab the scissors wrong. No regrets, though. The chef's knife and the vegetable cleaver are exactly what I've needed for years, and the two smaller knives have convinced me that the smaller knives I never used in my old set were just bad knives, because these two are perfect for the paring and filleting work.

Good as a starter set
I'm the chef in the house (although hubs makes a mean bowl of cereal or pot of boiled water), so I really wanted to get a nice set of knives when I decided to replace the older ones that I had.If you are looking for a good starter set of knives, this one's a great buy. Here's why:PROS:- The knives have a good weight and balance to them, so they're easy to use and easy on the wrists. I use the cleaver the most, because I like the feel of a heavier knife with a large surface that can easily chop, slice, mash, and dice everything that I might need.- The variety of the knives is just right. Unless you are a serious chef (in which case, you're probably shopping for a more professional set, anyway), these 5 are just right for the home.- The vegetable peeler looks really flimsy, but it actually works really well! I was skeptical because it's plastic and looks like a toy, but it slices through vegetable peels like nobody's business.- It looks beautiful! It's sleek, modern, and super organized. I love how clean it looks and how it fits perfectly on my counter. Everything is easy to access, and it's not like those wood knife blocks where you can't tell which is which without pulling it out.HOWEVER, something to keep in mind is that the scissors are kind of crappy. They cut well, but the silicone pieces that protect your hands comes off really easily (like every time you use or wash them), and it becomes a big pain in the ass. I decided to just leave these in the holder and opt for a nicer pair of scissors for the kitchen, instead.** EDIT (after almost 2 years of use):The pieces still work pretty well, but I've noticed a bit of rusting. The knives themselves a bit, but also the stand. It's a pretty intricate stand and hard to clean between the nooks and crannies, if you get any water on it, so it's bound to get ugly, over time. If you're waiting to get that super expensive, buy-once-and-use-forever knife set, this one will tie you over. If you're looking for a permanent set, I'd say to invest a little more money into a sturdier, more reliable set.If my review has helped you in any way, please let me know, or hit "Yes" under this review. Thank you! :)

Too fragile!
I thought this set was great, until today when I cut a piece of meat (partially frozen, but certainly not cement) and about 1/2" of the blade broke off. Now I am so hesitant to continue using the other knives. I have owned the set since November 2017 and have used most of the knives only a few times. I have other knives I am "attached to" so sometimes I just grab one of those. I liked the way these were displayed and matched my newly upgraded appliances. My old knives stay hidden in the drawer of shame.

UPDATE!! The red is classy! Does not look cheap.
I ordered the red set. I was a little worried they would look cheap but they're beautiful. It's a very nice ice red not a cheap looking plastic red.I love them!Previously I had given this product 5 stars however, I have had them less than 6 months, I've only ever hand washed them and all the red is chipping off the handles. They DO look cheap. Am I crazy that when I buy a product and take care of it that I want it to last more than 6 months?? Now I don't know what to do with them except maybe donate them? I don't like cheap crappy stuff in my kitchen. Waste of money. Don't buy them.

they're great. One note is the scissors are kind of ...
These knives are okay. For the price point you really can't complain. We bought these as a starter set to have in our first apartment to get us by, and in that regard, they're great. One note is the scissors are kind of garbage. They cut and operate fine but the rubber grips fall off very easy. Also these knives are prone to rust so be mindful of that and don't place these in the dishwasher. The honing rod is okay. I can usually get a mildly better cut out of the knife if i use it. For 30 bucks for an entire knife set... you really can't complain though.

Very nice design but poor quality!
We want to love this knives set but unfortunately we cant. The one piece knife design is functional, the set looks modern and beautiful to behold but the quality of the knives are subpar. Within a month of use three of the knives started to rust both at the blade and handle. We have not run these knives through the dish washer and never let them soak in water for prolonged periods. We dried them and stored them away, even then they started to rust. This set may last a few more months after which we would have to buy another set. This time we will be looking at another brand.Hope this company can fix the stainless steel quality issues and prevent rusting on both blade and handle. The scissor is sharp but the rubber inserts around the finger holes keep coming off. It's become an utter nuisance. Very poor design here. The stand is made of acrylic and up close the chrome looks cheap and plasticky.

Amazing!!!!
this set is so cheap!! and yet so good!! definitely a steal!! I would not suggest exposing knives to water for extended periods of time however, as they do begin to show signs of rusting. I use this in my dorm kitchen and I love it. Just the display of it makes it look so nice and expensive!! could use some work with the peeler, but all the knives are sharp and sleek!
