Kick start a child's imagination!
I bought this book to stimulate my granddaughters’ interest rather than buy them some “Junk du Jour” for Christmas. The unorthodoxy of the contents with the unexpected illustrations is sure to do just that. I remember devouring the dreadful comic books of my day much to the consternation of my parents, but, looking back, they imbued in me a lifelong habit of reading for pleasure; history and biography nowadays as the comic books couldn’t keep up with my hunger for information. If I can plant this hunger or curiosity in those two (granddaughters), it’s money well spent, anything to get them off that damned iPad and such electronic gadgetry. This one went to the oldest.

Super fun fact book for the kid who knows random stuff
My 8 year old is always telling me random facts about stuff. I saw this book and thought she'd enjoy it to add to her brain collection of random stuff. I wasn't wrong. She loves to flip through it and share the things she finds with anyone who will listen. The short paragraphs and great pictures makes it easy to read or peruse at her leisure.

These books are really cool. My 12 year old loves to read these and learn all the weird things in them. She often shares the facts with her siblings. We have both Ultimate Weird but True facts 1 and 2. She was super excited to see there was a 2nd edition of the book. They are full of colorful pictures. Some pages have a lot of facts on them and others are dedicated to one thing. There is a two page image and several facts on a lizard that walks on water. All the facts on these two pages relate to the lizard, how he can run on water, stay under water for 30 minutes, where it lives, and how he can do these things. The book cover a wide range of topics, not just animals, but all types of things. Some of the other topics covered are Extremes, from extreme sports to hot and cold extremes, and extreme exploration. Freaks of Nature which covers weather, water, sensations, insects. There are 9 chapters, each chapter is a different topic and there are many facts for each chapter. Just shy of 200 pages of intriguing facts.
