Just Use a Knife
I use a lot of garlic cooking for a family of six but I hate having the garlic cloves leave a strong odor on my hands. I was hoping this 'rocker' would be helpful. Nope. Save your money by just using a sturdy knife to SMASH the clove and separate the dry skin covering. Cut off the ends with the knife. Smash it again with the side of the knife and chop. The rocker does not improve your life with garlic one bit. You can rock it for a very long time to push the meat of the clove through the holes in the rocker. Meanwhile if there are any skins still on the clove, they are stuck on the back of the things. And then, just like the old garlic press, you gotta get a toothpick to clean the holes. It's going to metal recycling in our town next week. Save your money. It does not deliver miracles.

Great garlic press!
Update: After some trial and error, I now love this garlic press! It’s the only one I use. There is some learning curve. Here’s what I’ve discovered:It is easier if you smash the clove with the side of a knife first. This is an easy way to remove the skin anyway.I’ve also found it helpful to place the garlic on a plate instead of the counter. You want a lot of leverage to press down on the cloves. You can actually press several cloves at a time without scraping off the garlic from the underside. The press will cut through the thin inner skin of the clove (not the paper skin). So you can just keep pressing through one clove after another. It’s really important to rock it back and forth, to work the press through the cloves. If you use it correctly, you will have hardly any garlic remaining in the little holes, and then just use the brush and water to clean it easily.***This garlic press is very different from the one I used to have, which has the little opening to put the clove inside and then you press the handles together. I think this one works fine, but I would probably recommend it as an alternative, and not your main garlic press. So #1, yes, the holes are much bigger than a traditional garlic press. I am fine with that. You can always mince what you've pressed with a knife if you want smaller pieces. One thing I don't care for is that it leaves a lot of the garlic on the underside of the press. So even after you've scraped off the garlic you pressed, there is still a lot of garlic in the holes and on the bottom of the press. You have to peel off the remaining piece of garlic, and there's still a good amount of garlic; it's not just the "skin." So I ended up mincing that up and using it.I like that it's easy to clean because they give you a little brush to clean out the holes. And I like the way you can rock the press to really squeeze out the garlic. What I didn't like is the amount of garlic I felt like I was throwing away, or else having to mince it. I think it's a great alternative, but I'm still on the hunt to replace my original garlic press.

The garlic press I've been waiting for
We use a lot of garlic. It's a pain to prep. I've started shaking in a jar to peel, and it's okay, though not perfect. Every time a new style of press or grater comes on the market, I gotta try it. They're all fails somehow. Usually it's a cleaning issue - either cleaning between cloves, or cleaning after it's all over. So, I saw this and bit again. ...TAA-DAA!!!... It's easy to use, and to KEEP using, not matter how many cloves you wanna prep. Then it's easy to wipe off the residue with a towel or under the faucet. Then I pop it in the dishwasher. I'm in LUURVE! I'll be giving them for Xmas gifts.

Rockin' GOOD !
Just got it 2 days ago, and have already used it 2-3 times (am an avid home cook!) Thought the rocking side of the little holes were going to be sharper than they are, but just giving a little more pressure in crushing the garlic gets the job done quite nicely. However, might be less effort if the garlic cloves were coarsely cut in 2-3 smaller pieces (I started with whole cloves!) You can also "rerock" the minced pieces for an even finer mince which, when mixed with some kosher salt, makes a wonderful paste of raw garlic for things like hummus, salads, etc. The silicone sleeve is OK, but very fresh garlic is still more difficult to peel than older garlic cloves. The bottle opener is, well... a bottle opener. It's small enough to fit in your pocket for "on-the-road" usage. Regarding the herb stripper (almost sounds bawdy!), I haven't used it yet. Might work fine for thyme and oregano if you need large quantities, but seriously, how hard is it to get rid of the center rib on greens without damaging the more delicate leaves? Overall, I'm delighted with my purchase, and for the price, even more so!

I love theses two items
I am Italian and with our love of garlic these two are about to be put on my list of favorites kitchen tools!!!! So much easier and faster to mince the garlic. I use to use the old fashion salt and a fork and smash it on the counter. Now it's just a few rocks back and forth and that's it. When I have to peal a whole ball of garlic it would take some time to do it. Now it's only in seconds and I can I do more then one at a time. I can keep the vampires off me much faster now! Lol

Worthless
Worthless. As hard as you push garlic basically ends up flat but not through the holes. And what does go through is slim pickings. I end up rechopping and then having pick out the holes with a toothpick.

THIS IS TOTALLY USELESS
FOR CRUSHING GINGER.IT STATES IT IS USED FOR GINGER AS WELL AS GARLIC.AND I AM MOTHER TERESA.IMPOSSIBLE- I SEARCHED FOR A GINGER PRESS.SO YOU USE IT ON THE CUTTING BOARD, WHILE THE GINGER JUICE SPILLS ALL OVER THE COUNTER & DRIPS ONTO THE FLOOR.IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO USE, UNLESS YOU ARE SUPERMAN.DO NOT BUY FOR GINGER.I HAVEN'T TRIED IT USING GARLIC, BUT GARLIC IS MUCH SOFTER. MY 2 YEAR OLD NEPHEW CAN CRUSH GARLIC.I HATE THIS ITEM.

Fabulous, much better than traditional garlic press
I am so glad I purchased this. Tradition garlic press only have a small container to put garlic in, and after pressing it is hard to clean residues in that small space. This style is so much easier to use and clean, the holes are larger than a traditional press, but it works fine for me. Easy to apply pressure on the garlic because I can press down with my arms and not relying on my grip strength. Super easy to clean, no corners or edges of the "cup". Quick rinse and rub and it is good as new.

Fabulous!
I loathe fiddling about with garlic presses and detest cleaning them afterwards. This is quick and easy to use, doesn't leave you with lumps in the press to gouge out and is very easy to clean. Gosh I love this

Perfection!
Awesome! I highly recommend it. It’s one piece so shouldn’t fall apart, very sturdy and sharp. Perfect, I love it, every home should have one!
