Smooth, frizz free and shiny hair!
I have 2A type hair and after reading reviews, I specifically chose product with formaldehyde as the effects typically last longer than those without. I purchased face masks and gloves and went to town.I washed my hair with clarifying shampoo 3 times to ensure it was all squeaky clean. I then carefully brushed it out and let it mostly air dry, although you can use a hair drier to speed up the process. I split my hair vertically into 2 sections and started applying the product in small sections from the back to the front. I felt a slight burning sensation in my eyes during application, but that was about it and it wasn’t too bad. I felt more comfortable using my (gloved) hands to spread the product through my hair than a hair painting brush. I’d start about 2cm below my roots, spread it from root to tip with my fingers and then used a fine tooth comb to evenly coat each strand and remove excess product. Make sure to coat the baby hairs too! I used 2oz of product (for reference, I have fine, medium density hair that reaches to just above my bra line) and it was exactly enough. After I coated and combed each section, I joined it with the other hair that was already coated and ran the fine tooth comb through all of it to ensure I didn’t miss any hair in between sections and remove excess product. I left the product on my hair for about 45minutes.Then the fun really began! I used a standing fan and faced it at a slight angle towards my face. I didn’t want to aim it straight at my face as that was blowing the dried pieces around and into my eyes. I put on gloves, a new face mask and used a flat, plastic bristle brush to blowdry my hair in large sections, keeping it taught and aiming the nozzle downwards to smooth the cuticle. If you have course, frizzy or curly hair, I’d recommend using a round brush as it keeps the hair cuticle as smooth as possible throughout the process. At this stage, the hair will feel softer, but still heavy/waxy with product. My hair is balayaged so I set the temp for the iron at 450 for the darker parts of my hair and down to 425 as I reached the bleached sections towards the top of my head. I then split my hair vertically into 2 sections and started from the back by ironing 1/4-1/3in thick sections of hair, running a heat resistant comb in front of the hair iron each time. This helps smooth out each strand all the way through the ends so that you don’t iron it into a funky pattern. Don’t do thick sections as you need to start ironing very close to the root and don’t want to crease it. Pass the iron 4-10 times over each section (use the comb too!) depending on how thick/curly it is. I did about 6 passes for mine. I also ironed overlapping sections once or twice to make sure I don’t miss any hair in between sections and pay extra close attention to the flyaways. The heat resistant comb will be your best friend for them as it keeps those flyaways straightened between its teeth, allowing you to catch and straighten/smooth them with your iron. As your hair cools, you should be able to feel how soft and see how shiny it gets! It will still feel like you have a light film on your strands but it’s soft, shiny and frizz-free.I slept on a silk pillow and lightly re-ironed my hair (using the comb!!) every morning for the next 3 days. I set my iron at 425 the first day and the next at 2 days at 375, mostly focusing on any areas that creased/waved overnight. I did still make sure to focus on the flyaways towards the top layers of my head and did smaller sections there.I ended up waiting 4 days before I washed my hair just to really let it set (I don’t think this is necessary but I figured it couldn’t hurt) and I brushed my hair out from root to tip about 3 times a day to help keep it smooth and straight. I used one of Keratin Complex's sulfate free shampoos and Pureology’s hydrating silicone/paraben free conditioner and rinsed it out well. I let it air dry and my hair had zero frizz, was shiny and dried straight with a slight bedhead look that I have the option to smooth out with just a brush. This product works and I’m glad I took the plunge! The time and effort is totally worth it. I was hesitant to get a product with formaldehyde but the gloves, the face mask and the fan all helped mitigate most of the effects. I had minimal burning sensation in my eyes and nose throughout the process and took 3-4 breaks to let the fumes in the room air out a bit with the help of the fan but it was still there so that’s something to consider if you have any sensitivities. All in all, this was a great choice!

Works wonders
I am a white woman, who has the pleasure of having really wirey, dry, frizzy, and out of control hair. I've tried other products, and they last a few weeks, if that. This one actually works. My hair feels super silky, and smooth. I'm very pleased with this, even if it takes me forever to do it alone 😂.

Works well but will irritate eyes and respiratory system
Before applying this product My hair was 3c-4a and fairly natural (aside from the henna treatments which helped for hair growth but screwed up my texture causing my hair became more coily and tangly and dry).My hair has always refused (to the bitter end) to be tamed to the extent I sometime feel it is the most resistant hair in the world (and should be researched). Everytime I would try to straighten it it would become frizzy and poofy before the days end. To no avail, no matter what I did to combat the frizziness and poof nothing would work. That is until I tried this product.DISCLAIMER & Please read my details on the product: This product is harsh and I am not sure of the health implications but have a strong feeling I’m taking risks using this.Product Experience/Outcome(Note: I’ve used it twice, overlapping usage which may explain the current state of my hair...)First time I used it (August 2018): it didn’t really take due to me not letting the product saturate/rest in my hair (for the time specified in the directions) after applying it and I also didnt use a 450F heat setting when flat ironing (I was scared of heat damage). The second time I used it (October 2018): I applied it and let it sit in my hair for at least 30-45min before I proceeded to blow dry and straighten it. And I made sure I straightened it at the 450F setting. The results were amazing (AH-MAY-ZING). My hair was so pin-straight I became scared of how straight my hair had become, anticipating it to completely fall out thinking I may have over processed it. Currently my hair is slowly returning to its old curly and poofy way, kinda (it may never fully return to its fully curly self and sadly I’m okay with that, as I really didn’t like my hair previously). I project The product is due to fully wear out by next month or so and also I can tell based on the return of some poof and having more shedding when I wash and brush my hair. Also My hair feels weaker and is easier to break. I noticed the easier to break feeling a month after applying the second wave of the treatment (so it could be due to that overlap possibly). It became enough of a concern that after 6 weeks from the second treatment, to combat the hair fall and increasingly noticeable damage, I got an Olaplex treatment (which actually helped lessen hair fall for about two weeks and my hair become sleeker and shinier, too). The olaplex has worn off as I need to buy the weekly olaplex no3 treatment to follow-up.Also worth noting, I am not a styling junky and don’t tend to straighten my hair daily (I maybe straighten my hair once every other month, if that) so I wouldn’t fully attribute the damage to consistent heat damage.Product Details***It contains formaldehyde which will irritate the h-e-l-l (HELL) out of you respiratory system and mucous membranes.***NOTE: The only way I could apply this is with my windows open on a cold fall day wearing lab goggles and a nose mask (needed a better quality nose mask*) without the above you will not be able to see as it burns your eyes and it will be hard to breathe as it burns your respiratory system. It is not a cream and looks like a tan-ish custard (akin to any styling custard)Enough product to definitely get more than 2-4 uses out of (especially if you have mid-shoulder length hair)
