NintendoJapanese Playing Cards Game Set Hanafuda Miyako no Hana Black

These are cool looking and still well made. The size is neat and they have thickness to them so they will last awhile. I bought these because I saw they were still produced by Nintendo and appreciated they got their start by making these Hanafuda cards long before they were in the video game business. Neat to learn how to play and neat to have on your collection shelf.

Even the packaging is artful and inviting. Perfect cards, a work of art.* Edit: I have seen a review say that the "blue" ink (aotan cards, wisteria, etc.) looks black. This is not true at all, at least of my deck. It is a distinctly deep purple, as "blue" hanafuda designs traditionally sport. The colours are accurate.Beware, fragile: the cards feel like paper without a finish (the slightest water or grease would definitely ruin them), and the plastic box does not click shut (so you can easily pick it up wrong and spill the cards). Treat your beautiful hanafuda with utmost respect <3

Just a cute set of hanafuda cards. Packaged nicely and arrived unopened in great shape. The instructions that come with it are Japanese, so if you don't know how to play any games with these cards and can't read Japanese, you will need to look up instructions online. I recommend looking up how to play Koi Koi, and there is a version of solitaire you can play with these as well that is easy to pick up if you know how to play solitaire with a deck of playing cards!

I thought these were going to be the size of regular poker playing cards but they’re much smaller! Maybe about half the size. Aside from size they’re very high quality. The sturdy material creates a crisp clack when laying them down.
