Excited about a vacuum??!!
When the Linx vac arrived, I put it together (a snap - literally!) - and right from the box, proceeded to do some touch-up vacuuming around the house, to see how well it performed. I LOVE the brush-roller on/off feature; the vac transitions easily from the tile floor to the area rugs. I was astounded at how well it got the dog hair off the area rugs - I own an elderly Cattle Dog whose hair is like a porcupine quill: once stuck in something, it doesn't come back out very easily :-( Unlike my big upright vacuum, the Linx doesn't "grab" the rug - just nicely vacuums the surface and REMOVES THE DOG HAIR! Cleaning the cup is easy - and I was shocked at how much dog hair had been captured in a few short minutes...This morning I took the Linx to work, where it's supposed to be used - and once again (on the same battery charge) - it did a great job on smooth floors and area rugs. The commercial carpeted door mats are notorious for grabbing dog hair (yes, my dogs come to work with me) and once again, the Linx cleaned them nicely. Since the original Linx is supposed to be a "work vac" - I just ordered a second one for the house...LOL!!The vacuum is just so light and easy to use - I'm headed to the motorhome with it next! We don't go camping enough to need a 3rd Linx - but this WOULD be an ideal RV vacuum. On edit: The Linx did an awesome job of vacuuming the motorhome, with its medium-length cut pile carpet. I was amazed at how much dirt/debris/dog hair it picked up after a weekend of camping with the grandkids. Unlike the upright, this doesn't get all that heavy because you empty it with each use. And unlike my Shop Vac, it doesn't spew dust back into the air. After vacuuming 3 different places - maybe 5 minutes each, I still have about a 33% charge on the battery. I opted to buy a returned unit, so it didn't have an instruction manual. No problem - its a very intuitive little critter. I'm VERY glad I bought this! It's a year+ later - and I'm still loving this vacuum! I've used it on our boat; taken it camping several times, etc. It performs flawlessly. I'd say I have to charge it about once a month (I just use it for the kitchen/bath/hallway; and the one at work does about six hundred square feet of foyer and hallway). Since I'm allergic to dust - I LOVE that I can take the cannister apart and wash it and the filter sponge from time to time. I highly recommend this vac!

Vacuuming is ... FUN?!?!?!
I hate vacuuming. I even got a roomba a few years back thinking it would help. It didn't - took so much time prepping each room for it, plus having to watch it to make sure it didn't fill up or need something, and then cleaning it out...So I did some research and found the Hoover LINX cordless stick vac. And what a find it is! Vacuuming now just, well, it just happens. It's no longer a big production, nor a big chore in its own right. Now it just happens between other chores, quick and easy. I just take the vac and walk it through my 2-BR apartment for a quick cleanup. With a long-hair kitty leaving fluff all over the place, it's terrific to be able to just quickly clean that up and then move on with my day.PROS:- Super light, easy to carry with one hand- No cords to worry about - so you can just walk through, room to room, and not have to worry about plugs, tripping over cords, etc.- Very powerful - one of the best strength suction I've seen; very little need to go over the same area again and again- Great price, especially for that amount of power- Fantastic ease of changing from floor to carpet mode (see above re: just walking it through the apartment)CONS:- True, the battery only lasts 15-20 minutes. But for me, in a medium-sized 2-BR, that's plenty of time, given the unit's strong suction. It actually makes a kind of game - get everything in 1 battery cycle.- If you have a huge house you need to clean, this could be a problem; but I guess you could just buy an extra battery and swap them out.- Having to remember to charge the battery takes a bit of planning (thanks to the person who posted about not leaving the battery plugged into the charger for the heads up!)NEUTRAL:- I'm not a huge fan of bagless vacs - you still have to dump all the stuff out, and occasionally clean the bin. But this turned out not to be as big a "yuck" as I thought it would be. So I guess the satisfaction of watching the see-through bin fill up with all the dirt that's no longer on my floor plus not having to buy replacement bags cancel out the "yuk" of having to empty the bin.Overall - an amazing find. Yay for easy chores.------UPDATE on 12/3/11:After almost a full year with this baby, I can honestly say that vacuuming has become almost... fun. I know, I know... them's big words. But really - it's just so easy now. I find that I only charge the battery occasionally - certainly not every time I need to use the vac, especially when I'm just spot-cleaning.And, a nice surprise - it even did a fantastic job cleaning up all the glitter that got all over the place when I was putting up decorations recently. This is by far one of my favorite appliances.
