Plan on making a few attempts before you get this down since the sequence is very important to avoid errors. The included directions are clear and accurate but the don’t include the steps for lancing your fingertip in the steps for using the meter. Here’s what I did to get it to work properly:1) Clean hands and decide which fingertip to use. I selected index of left hand.2) Set depth gauge for lance. I started with 5 but it didn’t do anything on the pad of my left fingertip. 7 got a little. Went to 9. YMMV.3) Load lance and cock it.4) Open test strip package but DON’T insert in meter yet. Once you insert the strip the meter turns on and you will need to complete the test before it automatically turns off. If it turns off before you get your blood sample, you must remove and replace the strip before you test your sample. If you get a sample with the meter off and then remove and replace strip to turn it on, you will get an error.5) Prick finger and let it bleed until you have at least a rice-sized drop of blood. It may take 30 seconds. Don’t rush it.6) Insert test strip in meter. Wait a few seconds for it to calibrate the strip and display the blood sample icon.7) Touch the sample window of the test strip to the sample.8) Wait a few seconds for the analysis to complete.I got a reading of 1.2 so light nutritional ketosis for me.Pro tip: If the meter has turned off when you go to test the sample>>STOP. Remove and replace test strip to turn on the meter and reset the calibration. Then test your sample. If you test your sample with the meter off, you will get an error.I have a few suggestions for the folks at KetoCoach. First, rewrite the instructions to include lancing your finger, THEN loading test strip. Second, you should consider increasing the shut off time or changing system so it won’t auto turn off with a fresh strip loaded.

My experience so far with this device has been exceptional. I'm new to keto and I'm using it as an anticonvulsant therapy.I was leery of buying one of these electronic meters because of the consistency of the bad reviews across the board. Regardless of brand, the negative reviews all seem to complain about the same things: inaccuracy, inability to get the meter to function properly, etcI got mine to work on the third try because apparently I wasn't using enough blood at first. Since then it has been highly consistent and very convenient. You don't even really have to use any of the buttons on the thing since when you put one of the strips in it turns on and is immediately ready for a sample. It then turns off again when you remove the strip.I have tested it several times on the same sample to see if the readings would be the same each time and they have been consistent without fail. I can only assume that the people having problems either just got a faulty meter or they were doing something in their process that was screwing up the results.To conclude, this meter is fast, easy to use, and consistent. After using it a few times I can usually take a measurement and cleanup in less than 5 minutes. I had to make my own sharps bucket for lancet disposal. I don't recall if that was recommended in the instructions (I only needed to read them once) but hopefully everyone knows that they can't just throw those away in their normal trash.Don't let the negative reviews dissuade you from giving one of these a try.

I ordered this little monitor after listening to several YouTube reviews. And then, read some comments saying the company had gone out of business and the strips were no longer available. I contacted the company and found out this is NOT TRUE. The strips are available, and from what I found the least expensive of all the available monitors. I'm sold. My monitor arrived very quickly and I love it! It's easy to use and is a great source of motivation to help keep me on track.

I purchased my KetoCoach Ketone meter and have used it three times so far. I like being able to test my ketones, and I believe that it is fairly accurate. Having not used any other ketone meter, I can't be certain. My only issue with this meter is the difficulty not wasting strips and getting ER3 code which means it didn't get enough blood. I had quite a bit on my finger, but if you don't get the test strip perfectly in the right position, it automatically gives you an error. No retry, no nothing. I have gone through three strips while testing at two different occasions trying to get a reading. It is very discouraging because I am sometimes shakey while trying to get my reading. When it fails not only do I have to try again on another finger since the other one is likely not going to be enough blood again, but I am wasting strips. Even though the strips are less expensive than other brand's strips, I am still not thrilled about wasting them. I find it much easier to get a reading on my glucose monitor. I haven't wasted a strip with that one yet. I only have two more test strips, and I am not sure when I will test again or when I will be able to fork out the money for a new box of strips.

The meter does a great job of testing your ketone level and requires minimal amount of blood sample.Their customer service is great, Matt reached out to me personally asking if I am happy with everything, I asked him a couple of questions and he responded to each and every one of them in a timely manner (less than 5 minutes), he gave me some ideas on how I can improve my ketone level reading and what has worked for him personally. I am super impressed with their product, the price and of course their customer service!
