Will this hold a TS100 iron?

Yes it does. Holds mine very well. There is a spring metal piece inside that applies pressure to the iron to hold it in place.

Is this the correct holder for a Hakko FX 601?

Yes.... go to HakkoUSA.com lookup FX 601 and under accessories there are two types available. This model plus one with a sponge.

Does this stand come with the gold brass sponge holder or do i have to purchase that item separately?

The metal brass tip cleaning sponge and holder are included. I ordered the Hakko Iron Holder 633-01 w/ 599B and the Hakko Desoldering Kit, with the 808 Desoldering Gun, 120 VAC with built in vacuum pump last year - Feb. 2013. The 633-01 holder works great with the Hakko 808 as well as soldering irons.
