I have SADS,I live in the middle of the U.S.and I am hoping all the reviews I have read are right. I have used full spectrum lights, but nothing like this. Today it is the end of September, 2012, and I can feel the gloom starting to set in. The light arrived today, boxed well and the quality is fine. At this time all is well with the light, and I am feeling as if I could sleep about 10 hours a night. During the summer, I can sleep about 6 hours a night and feel great, so I am hoping to return to the great feeling even if I have to sleep 8 hours a day. I will update in the future as the dark days come into play. I have this light at arms length to my right side as not to cause glare on my laptop. As I add to my review I will try to post hours used and how I feel at that usage. As I said, I have used other lights, but this is bright and I can actually feel the difference in my skin already with just a few hours of use. The price on this product is not cheap but either is the cost of not feeling good. The quality of construction, and the speed of shipping is high, if it works as I am expecting, I plan to purchase another light for the left side. You can relate to how this feels by thinking of the first sunny warm day in the spring.However as I already stated,first day,first hours,but it is looking good and feeling great. Three hours 9-2812/22 update: Yes the product is pricey but well worth every penny. I am loving the way it adds mega light to my day, but I now use it on the back of my legs as this picks up far more light affect to my body. This may seem strange however it is working. 15 to 30 minutes on the right side of my face and then I move the unit to the floor. For me, the effect is so great that I have to watch how much light I am getting. This has shown me exactly how sensitive I am to the drop off of light as the increase of my energy is great with this light. I am still working out the time spent with this product on. Well worth the money spent; I would buy it again and again.

I now have two lights in my home. One for me and one for my son. They work better than I could ever have dreamed. My body misses them when I don't make time to sit with them on. I have one on each couch, facing different directions and my son and I can watch TV while helping our bodies. The investment is worth it. Build quality is amazing. I don't have any regrets other than wishing I had found them sooner. They really help with the blues I feel sometimes. I have let friends borrow one to test for themselves and each resulted in a sale. I couldn't recommend them more. Be kind to yourself and treat yourself👍

This lamp had the best ratings overall so even at the higher price (compared with others) I purchased it. When you receive the box, you have to remove the plastic covering to install the light bulbs. The clips that hold the bulb seem very flimsy and I was concerned they would break. Luckily they did not break and they are holding the bulbs. However, the grooves on the end piece where the plastic cover slides into were bent and I had to bend the grooves open and bend that entire side to make the plastic cover fit properly. It looked that it just wasn't assembled quite right from the factory. But now it is working and light is very bright and seems to do what it should. However, after the box warms up, it does make a regular clicking sound (maybe from the heat from the bulbs or something?) which can be a bit annoying to continually hear. For the price I would not have expected any of the problems I mentioned.

Was so excited. Just got it tonight. Followed instructions. It looks pristine. But totally dead. Tried multiple outlets that I know are working with other appliances. The top "On/Off" switch looks like it would light up but doesn't. And neither of the bulbs will light. Totally dead in the water. Will update review when I hear back. Not too concerned (but bummed) about the problem. The real test of a company is how the deal with a defective unit. Hopefully this will end well.Update: Already they have contacted me (less than 24 hours) and are shipping a new unit. Fingers crossed.Final Update: Well, the manufacturer contacted me and had me troubleshoot the box. Turns out that there was a loose wire inside the unit. Took me all of 5 minutes to resolve it with a Philips screwdriver. So, I am a happy customer and the product is now working. Stuff happens. I am cool with that. I appreciated that they were prompt in contacting me and worked with me to resolve it without having to send the unit back.

I purchased this because i have major depressive disorder and seasonal affective disorder, i have heard mention on tv and in my dr's office, i talked to my dr and he said my insurance would not cover it and from what most of the couple of his patients that had bought one, did not notice any difference, said it's up to me people respond differently to things, i was in such a state of depression i would have tried anything so i bought it this in nov. and i use as i am suppose to and i have not noticed any difference at all, my brother wants one and he talked to his dr and he told him to go the hardware store and but the light boxes that people use in green houses to grow plants and would save him a lot of and would be the same thing, so i consider this useless and am trying to get my money back now, that's how i feel.

Product was purchased to be used for light therapy. Product was chosen based upon a small study done at Yale's medical school. light has worked wonderfully, and am happy with the result.

For the price, the packaging was not secure, and on the box it seemed to be made in China. The name is deceptive calling the company Alaska Northern Lights. I decided to keep the other one I bought from Amazon, the Northern LIght Technologe, made in Canada. The price is better and it is made in a place I trust more and would want to support. Many of the items I bought made in China, never held up and did not pass the test of time.
