The media could not be loaded. This mortar is the best I've seen so far. Exactly what I was looking for. I shopped around here initially, didn't find anything. Went to ebay, got something but when I received it, it was too shallow and wide so was unfit for purpose, I returned it and came back here. I changed around the keywords I was using in the search box and fortunately, this came up. I was so thrilled once I saw it.This product is so deep. No chance of anything flying out of it whilst u pound. And it's heavy too, the pestle too. So whatever u put in there will be crushed in seconds. And it's not slippery too, which I like. Cos when it's slippery, it defeats the purpose doesn't it? Cos then everything starts flying out of it.Yes it was costly but for me, it was worth every penny. I won't be buying this in a very long time.Remember, this item is heavy. I can barely lift it with one hand so this item is not for the feeble or weak. Not even for the teenagers to handle, in my opinion. It's heavy. It will cause injury if it falls on anybody's foot or toes. Functionality is 100%. Ease of use 90% cos it's heavy. It obviously looks good. Very well designed. I love it! Very sturdy too.

Such an amazing mortar and pestle! The first one I ordered came damaged but amazon was quick to issue a free replacement as always. Ive used this for loads of different things ( grinding spices, making pesto, making sauces) and it does the job perfectly. It's quite heavy which makes it a bit harder to clean but definitely worth the quality.

I've used this a few times now and its amazing how food changes flavour when grinded in this versus a grinder. I dislike how the pestle isn't as round, its more oval with the rough area split in the centre of that so if you try and grind it down, its quite difficult given the mortar's roundness and the pestle being oval.Overall its a very good product, sturdy and thick, but I wouldn't but it again because of the pestle. In hindsight I should have gone with the Jamie Oliver one.

Great size for making a quantity of paste to store. First one I received broke on its second use (Amazon swapped it out without issue). I suspect it is a design issue with the pestle. The very wide end for grinding is great, but puts strain on the narrow handle. Just make sure to use the other end for pulverising.Its a lovely stylish finish, so I chose to replace rather than get a refund which probably tells the whole story.

Bought this motar and pestle after reading positive reviews online and I have not been disappointed. I mean when americans start using British products it has got to be good. Very heavy but as expected. Grinds even just one clove of garlic well and obviously more if requiredBefore the first use i would recommend the trick if grinding a handful if raw rice ti help polish out the motar and pestle then wash and use.
