I do not think it can be used out doors...

Is it a light or dark grey?

It's pretty dark, my floor has different shades of grey, & I still could not use this color

Does this product make the vinyl waterproof?

I don't think so. We used it to fill in around corners we cut less than perfectly on high quality vinyl plank flooring.
