Does this fit the 2nd gen

It absolutely does not. The part where the plug goes in is too small to fit it. I know because I bought this exact product in 2020 for my regular Google Home Minis and I just bought Nest mini2nd Gen &tried to swap it out and the speaker part fits but the cord DOES NOT FIT! It's too big for this product

This question has been answered once, but I want more verification... can I really mount it securely a ceiling outlet?

I'd recommend securing it with velcro on the backside as well. The weight of the speaker would likely pull it out of the socket.
