Can it been used with the hard water?

Yes indeed it has filter so drinks come out withoit any scum and there is a maintenence cycle to properly clean the machine although as I have only had mine for a few weeks I haven't needed to do that yet (it gives you an alert when needed and also to put in new filters when required) Well.pleased with it

What are the various water volume settings on this device? Thanks

Hi, there is: 150ml, 250ml, 300ml, 400ml, 500ml and 999ml. You can also set it going and just press the water button whenever to stop it. There are also 6 temp settings of: room temp, 40°, 70°, 80°, 90° and 100° Hope this helps. I would highly recommend one, we would not go back to a standard kettle again.
