I stick my finger inside and swish the suds around. if needed, I put a drop of dish soap inside. Since it's flexible it is easy to get into the sharp corners.

I have only experienced bad staining with hot sauce. If using for hot sauce, I’d suggest having one dedicated to that use. No problems with ketchup or balsamic.
