Has anybody tried to microwave the packets to get the sugar to liquify? Will it hurt the microwave? I’d cut an air slot

we would recommend to NOT microwave it. as the material that holds the milk is not suited. Also the pure cane sugar that's included in your milk packet will dissolve once putting into coffee :)

Should I put this in the refrigerator?

You would only need to refrigerate after opening the packet you've used :)
